Has anybody you know had Lyme disease??

My son was diagnosed with Lyme disease three weeks ago. We spend our summers in NY and NJ and I'm pretty sure I know when he was bitten by a tick although I never saw it. He had a bump on his shoulder blade in the exact spot the bullseye rash ended up four weeks later. He is going through 3 weeks of treatment with amoxicillin but I was wondering how doctors here in the west have treated the disease. Can anyone help? How did the treatment work in the end?
