Ok so nail polish, is so toxic and I didn't really know how bad it was. I found out that nail polish is known as the most noxious of all beauty products, it is made with formaldehyde, dibutl phthalate and toluene, ingredients that can cause cancer, nervous system damage and birth defects, respectively.
I can't believe I painted my daughters toes about a week ago. I thought it was cute. It was a very light ballet pink. She loved it..
I think they make organic nail polish that doesn't contain any of this toxic stuff, does anyone know where to buy it????

Oh, they have a very pretty color nail polish called Cotton Candy; maybe your daughter will like that!

I haven't started painting
I haven't started painting my 3-year-old nails yet, mostly because I don't want her bugging me to do it all the time! Thanks for a great resource for when we do start.

I bought nail polish at
I bought nail polish at Whole Foods when I was pregnant because I was afraid of the chemicals. They also have nail polish remover that is not as toxic.
Wow, I had not even thought
Wow, I had not even thought about that. Makes me think twice about painting my girls' toes. There are so many chemicals already out there, but I don't have to add more if I don't have to. I will have to check out the other polishes.
Thank you

You hear all about toxins in
You hear all about toxins in womens products. I guess I never thought about nail polish - but it makes sense. Wow. I don't have girls, but I sometimes use nailpolish myself. Thanks for the organic nailpolish info! Don't want to put toxic stuff on kids or ourselves!

I never ever thought about
I never ever thought about this. I have a house full of girls and we are always painting our nails. I amgoing to check out whole foods and see what they have. I did change my make up to bare minerals years ago and never checked to see if they made any nail polishes.

No, it doesn't make me think
No, it doesn't make me think twice about the kiddy mani/pedi's. Of course I want to protect my daughter from everything harmful as much as possible, but my way of thinking is this. Do you not let your children outside, because a car might drive by with a bad exhaust system and your child might inhale exhause fumes that can be toxic and harmful? Do you always buy all organic food & drinks, because the pesticides on fruits & veggies can be toxic, do you always buy RBST free milk because there can be dangerous hormones in milk that isn't RBST free. Do you always buy hormone free meat and poultry, because there can be dangerous/harmful hormones in that. So my point is that our children inevitably encounter harmful things in their everyday life that I suppose if we went to the extremes of airing on the side of caution about everything we would be able to control. Have we heard of children/people reeping long term adverse affects from the use of nail polish; not on a regular basis. I too wish that things were made with out harmful chemicals and other harmful ingredients, but the fact of the matter is no matter how hard you try you're always going to run into something that has the possibility of an adverse effect with it's use or consumption.
