HI, MY NAME IS AMBER AND I AM SO NEW TO THIS SITE...BEEN ONLY HERE FOR 15 MMINUTES AND I SO LOVE WHAT I SEE...ABOUT MY TOPIC...I AM A FIIRST TIME MOM WITH NO FAMILY OR FRIENDS TO CONSULT WITH ABOUT RASING MY CHILD..SO THATS WHY I CAME ON HERE..TO MAYBE GET THE ANSWERS OR ADVICE THAT I NEED TO HELP ME OUT. SEE MY SON WAS BORN FEBRUARY 28,2006 WELCOMED INTO THE WORLD AT 5:38PM WEIGHED 8LBS 8OZS AND WAS 21 1/2 INCHES LONG, I WAS IN LABOR FOR 42 HOURS WITHOUT MEDICINE NO DRUGS AND THE NATURAL WAY POSSIBLE, BORN AT CASA GRANDE REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER AND HE IS THE GREATEST THING IN MY LIFE THAT HAS HAPPENED TO ME BESIDES GETTING MARRIED. HE IS NOW 2 AND HE DONT WALK AND HE DONT TALK,AND I KNOW THAT SOMETHING IS WRONG,BUT I HAVE DONE ALL THAT I CAN DO WITHOUT INSURANCE. WHEN I HAD INSURANCE I ALMOST GOT THE REFERRAL TO SEE A NEROLOGIST ABOUT HIM AND THE INSURANCE COMPANY CANCELLED ME BECAUSE ME AND MY HUSBAND MAKE TO MUCH MONEY,AND I REALLY DONT SEE HOW THAT IS. ANYWAYS, I WAS INTRODUCED TO THE BLAKE FOUNDATION BY THE WIC PROGRAM(WHICH IS A REALLY GOOD PROGRAM) AND THEN THEY TRANSFERRED ME TO AZEIP(ARIZONA EARLY INTERVENTION PROGRAM) PEOPLE COME TO MY HOUSE ALL THE TIME NOW AND I DONT EVEN KNOW WHY THEY COME HERE,ALL THEY DO IS SIT ON THERE BUTT AND ASK ME THE SAME QUESTIONS THE LAST PERSON DID. THE PHYSICAL THERIPIST IS THE ONLY ONE SO FAR THAT SAYS I NEED TO GET A REFFERAL TO A NEROLOGIST BUT I CANT,DONT HAVE INSURANCE. I AM TRYING TO DO EVERYTHING TO HELP HIM CUZ I KNOW SOMETHING IS WRONG I JUST CANT HELP HIM AND IT MAKES ME CRY AT TIMES WHEN I SEE KIDS YOUNGER THEN MY LITTLE MAN WALKING AND TALKING AND PLAYING AND ALL HE CAN DO IS WATCH. MY BOY IS TRYING SO HARD TO WALK AND HE KEEPS ON FALLING. HE IS TO TALL FOR A WALKER HAS BEEN FOR A 1YR AND HALF AND I HAVE WALKING TOYS FOR HIM BUT HE WANTS TO WALK BY HIMSELF SO BAD..HE GETS MAD ALL THE TIME AND FRUSTATED, AND I FEEL BAD. IAM ONLY 22 AND WITHOUT MY FAMILY TO HELP ME OUT I DONT KNOW WHAT ELSE TO DO SO I THOUGHT THIS WOULD BE THE BEST WAY TO TRY TO GET SOME KIND OF ADVICE.THANKS FOR LISTENING

Hi Amber, I am the mother of a slightly autistic child,I have gone through a lot of tests before coming to the realization, check into DDD they will assign a case worker to you, your instincts are correct,and it is "needs" based not financially based. I will get the link later today,and post it tomorrow,with the details,I'm not sure if you need a diagnosis,or if they have assistance to diagnose. Good luck with your "little man" stay strong.

I think also talking with the individuals who are coming to your home to observe your son, may open some doors or point you in the right direction. I know you mentioned they ask you the same questions over and over....but when they are done asking questions....If you haven't already, explain your situation to them and see of they have any recommendations for you. I know one of them mentioned that your son should see a neurologist...maybe you can call this individual and ask how you go about doing this without having insurance. See if he/she has any suggestions or is aware of any programs you may be eligible for. Also, do not be afraid to ask these individuals why they are at your house to observe and what will come of their observations? Sometimes it helps to think of the questions beforehand and write them all down. I know it can get a bit overwhelming when they are already at your home observing your little guy.

It soulds like your family would qualify financially for insurance through the state - I believe it's called Kids Care. (its the kid version of ACCCHS).
Also, you need to press AZEIP to help you get a firm diagnosis, and also push for better or different care from the therapists.
