My daughter who is now 7 was recently diagnosed with mild autism. She speaks and is in a regular class at school. Her main problem is communication. She can start a conversation but has a hard time continuing it and has trouble listening/comprehending what others are saying to her. She has no friends at school and I'm trying to find a playgroup or anyone who has a girl around this age with similar problems who wants to get together to play. I live in the NW valley. Thank you so much for your help. We are just starting our journey and I think this forum will be a great help.

Hello, I have a 7 year old
Hello, I have a 7 year old son with Asp. and a 5 year old son with moderate level autism. If you want to email me my address is steff_smith2005@yahoo.com
I'm in the north valley as well but I'm closer to Scottsdale. My 7 year old is super social and the most gentle sweet guy in the world. He doesn't really fit in with boys because he gets so scared when they rough house and doesn't seem to know how to talk to them. Anyway if you want to chat I'm around my computer.

I know what you mean about
I know what you mean about getting scared when other kids are too rough, we go through that too. She doesn't even like playing chase because she gets scared. I'll keep your email and maybe in a couple of weeks when school is out we can meet up. The only reason I was looking for a girl playmate is that she is turning 8 in a couple of months and really wants a little girlfriend like her sister has. She seems to play better with boys though. Thanks for your reply.
I also belong to a support
I also belong to a support group (mostly moms) who help each other through the ups and downs of the autism world. I know they have a west side group of moms that get together once a month I'm sure there would be a girl in the group. Good luck to you and the family!
