I have a 5y/o with mild sensory processing issues. She has a difficult time wearing a variety of clothes and this colder weather has been really challenging for us. I would love to connect with other families that struggle with similar issues for mutual support and problem solving.
Not sure how this site works but would love any feedback and/or suggestions for how to find other Mom's out there that might be interested in a support network.
Thanks!

At one time, our son was thought to have some sensory processing issues. He, too, would complain about certain clothes. We had him evaluated at school. He was borderline, so he got some OT services for a semester.
What we found is he just couldn't stand sweaters, and yet, he didn't want to wear his jacket. What we did is have him wear a cotton t-shirt underneath. He'd complain at times about the sleeve ...so he could wear a light long-sleeve cotton shirt of at least a vest over his t-shirt...at least in class it's not freezing.
We also found some soft-textured light sweaters (in his case we bought some Quicksilver brand sweaters that he just loved because they were super soft.) You might try fleece, too. Our son didn't really care for the look of fleece, tho.
We finally got him to wear his jacket by getting him one similar to his dads. But, that still remains a challenge.
Good luck. I'm sure there are some sensory groups...I'd ask the OT specialist at your school.
There is a company in tempe
There is a company in tempe that deals with sensory integration. I haven't used them, so I don't know if they are good, but I did an internet search because I've just been checking a variety of sensory/autism issues. We are having our son tested for asperger's.
The center is called SIRRI. This is the web link: http://www.sirriaz.com/
good luck.
