Having a third child?

myseashell's picture

Is anybody else debating wether or not to have a third child? We have two a boy and girl. My dh wants another like now. And I switch on and off between yes and no and now and later. Is anybody else struggling wether or not to add to their family? If you have 3 or more how is life for you or if you have stuck with 2 what infuenced your decision?

My second was so easy, I had

My second was so easy, I had visions of a third just like him. On my hip, running errands, etc. My husband was happy with two, but thought he could be happy with 3. We thought we could add a third and not be financially straped and I could still be home. And before we knew it we were pregnant. Then soon we knew we were pregnant with twins. (apparently your chances double after age 35) So we were nervous and intmidated at the idea, and had to run our budget numbers again, but honestly it has been wonderful. I can't imagine how quiet and simple life would be with only 2. It can be crazy, but we love it. Do your older two want another? Not that they should have any deciding votes, but it sure does help to have them on board and interested. Do what you think is best for yourself and your family. Good luck. It is a big decision.

Someone once told me that

Someone once told me that they had another child because it "felt like someone was missing" from the family. A great way to think about it.

We kept to two. My hubby

We kept to two. My hubby wanted another, but he quickly realized two was a difficult (practices at the same time, doing homework, managing sibling rivalry, etc) I kept pointing out we were blessed with a boy and a girl. But each family has different dynamics. For us, both work, so managing two was enough. However, I have many friends that enjoy larger families. It's really a personal choice with no right answer.
