Do any of you think the world will ever reach the point where we will have to limit family size? There is a group, Population Connection, http://www.populationconnection.org/ that supports the idea of people having only 2 children, one to replace each parent. Of course they have no power, except to educate on what over population will do, and advocate starting self monitoring now.
I am reminded of that story of the boy who asked a king for one grain of rice to be doubled on each checker board square, soon he had bankrupted the king as the amount of rice was tremendous after being doubled the 64 (?) times. A look at any population graph shows we are doubling our poplulation very, very quickly.
This seems like a topic that will have to be addressed eventually, at least become part of our dialogue as we discuss global warming and climate change. Example, we may be able to reduce water use per person, but when you add more people, you are at the same or higher use levels. Technology probably won't be able to keep up forever.
Thoughts???

They already do this in
They already do this in China with a limit of 1 child or the taxes they pay can more than bankrupt a family. Sad, but it is also the reason in many less developed countries that baby girls are murdered. Boys are seen as the family's future financial support, girls a drain. sad
Yes, they do it that way in
Yes, they do it that way in China. My ex boss is from China. He told me the famlies who are upper class can have one more. However, they have to summit stuff before hand?? His sister has two children.
It isn't up to me to judge those who have lots of children.I will say though....the famlies who have more children then they can afford...makes me wonder, why?
Thanks for your comments, I
Thanks for your comments, I am surprised more Moms don't have some thoughts about this. It would be so strange to have to get permission to have children, and yet it seems like we are on a path that may make it ultimately unavoidable.
