Yesterday I looked in my pantry and saw that I still had some baby formula (which they give you in those diaper bags as you leave the hospital) that is still good. It is unopened and I started thinking how I need to find a place that can get good use out of this formula (as it is not the brand I use and we all know how expensive it can be - may as well put it to good use.) So, I did an internet search and called the place I found. They said that they do take donated unopened baby formula. I'm sure there are several places in town. However, here is the one I spoke to yesterday. I'm sure there are a few moms out there that have formula to donate.

That's good to know. I have been getting samples of baby formlua in the mail (I have about eight cans). This is funny to me because I am 40 and unfortunately had to have a hysterectomy years ago.
sure, fine, whatever

That is pretty funny that you're getting baby formula of all things.... Speaking of getting free baby formula, a lot of major hospitals around the country are no longer including free formula samples in their bags they give out to new moms. There's such a big push now regarding the "breast is best" campaign that hospitals feel that they can persuade a new mom to avoid formula by not giving them free samples that are given by the formula manufacturers. I guess they think we women can't think for ourselves on how to feed our babies.....

That's interesting. I've done both (nursed and bottle fed) and the free can of formula wouldn't have persuaded me either way. Even if you do end up breast feeding, it is rare that a mom is going to end up doing it for an entire year (which is totally great if you can, but my schedule never allowed me too). I say, through all the labor and nine months of aches and pains, she deserves a free can of formula.

That is a good idea! I am a single mom and know how expensive formula gets....I am soooo thankful when I get Enfamil in the mail...but I have also gotten similac which is not what I use so I will definately donate it.
You might also try your
You might also try your local freecycle group. (just google freecycle and your city.) I've used this to give away samples of formula and those formula checks that are good for several dollars off. I've also used freecycle to give away other items as well, baby and non-baby items. Basically, you post whatever you are offering to the group with your general location, and anyone who is interested will send you an email. You can pick who you want the item to go to, and set whatever pick-up conditions you want (usually, to be safe, I would leave the item right outside my front door, and the person would pick up on a specified day).
More Free Formula... Have
More Free Formula...
Have you heard of Freepeats.org? Freepeats is kind of like Freecycle, except for baby stuff. It's in several big cities right now, and It's coming to Phoenix on April 1. You should be able to get free formula on Freepeats.
Here's an article about it on Discovery.com:

The other place to donate
The other place to donate cans of formula, especially Similac, is at my doorstep. Just kidding! I know how valuable formula is since I have 4 mo. old twins that are exclusively formula fed. It's great that you choose to donate it rather than just tossing it out. I have several cans of Enfamil in my cupboard that I didn't want to throw out so maybe I'll look for a place locally where I can drop them off. Thanks for the tip!

That is soooo great! I'm due in May. So, I currently have one can that I got in the mail. I do plan on breastfeeding if I can. I was unable to 7 years ago with my son and let me tell you, the hospital staff at the hospital I was at - they were AWFUL to me. They just kept pressuring me and pressuring me. :(

Any of the local food banks will take unopened formula/baby food that is still good. It goes in emergency food boxes that are given out to families in need.
St. Mary's in Phx, United Food Bank in Mesa, St. Vincent de Paul in Phx, Desert Mission in Phx, are just a few.
