Lovies

Another mom posted about cloth diaper services. That brought to mind something I've always wanted to tell other moms.
I had a diaper service for 1 month after my twins were born and I used the clothes as burp clothes. I just got a fresh one every time the babies spit up and didn't have to worry about washing them that first tiring month.
After the service went away I went right out and bought my own cloth diapers and continued to use them as burp clothes, because I changed them every day or if they spit up to much my kids grew up with a lovie with a twist. As they got older; 6-7-8 months and beyond they loved on their lovie, but grew older not smelling the same one and becoming upset if it was taken to the washer or smelled different because they were always giving another one to replace it and just knew that was the way it was. We never had the drama of it being gone or left at home or lost because I always had a spare in the diaper bag.
I raised them to know they could have it if they were going to sleep or got a shot or an owie and cried, but they couldn’t just carry it around. It stayed in their bed.
Again this was a from the beginning process that grew with them. I was determined to not have babies dragging around a smelly scrap of cloth or having a meltdown if it smelled different. Now I am not criticizing any moms, so please don't be mad at me for just stating how I handled not going threw that childhood drama.
