Happy Mother's Day, everyone!
I just had a question. I notice several posters that identify themselves as discussion leaders, and that's a new concept to me.
What is a discussion leader's role?
Who are they, and how were they selected?
Thanks - enjoy your day!

I have wondered about that
I have wondered about that myself.
They are people who are kind
They are people who are kind of moderating the site, making sure that someone is aware of any funky posts, etc right away so they can be deleted, and that the discussion is flowing as it should in a polite and civilized manner.
A few weeks ago I had a nice discussion with Yvette, and she explained what the discussion leaders were going to be about....I think they approached some people who post here a lot. I told her at the time I didn't have the amount of time to devote to it that would probably be required so I had to decline.
Glad you noticed. Look for
Glad you noticed. Look for arizonamoms.com editor Yvette Armendariz to begin introducing our chat moms next week. We'll also be introducing some of them as part of a new arizonamoms.com page in your community Republics on Wednesday. As Katy1999 points out, they are moms who've agreed to help us monitor the site and take part in chats. As the arizonamoms community grows, it's more and more difficult for one person (Yvette) to monitor everything. If you're interested in participating, email Yvette at azmoms@arizonarepublic.com

Now I really am signing off to go enjoy the beautiful day (and call my mother, sister, stepmother and anyone else I know with a child). Have a great day

How were they selected, what
How were they selected, what was the criteria? Just wondering why someone who posts here as much as someone else would be selected over that person, if that makes sense.
When I first heard about
When I first heard about discussion leaders they were looking mainly at diversity in what part of town you lived. There was some diversity in all aspects of life while meeting that criteria, age, # of children, age of children, marital status, heritage, world views, work status, etc. now I think they are going beyond area of town, but that was heavily weighted criteria initially.
Lovemy4 is a discussion leader for North Central Phoenix, tired mother of 4 great kids and wife to one great husband.
The reason I was asking
The reason I was asking about the criteria is that I noticed most of those who are discussion leaders are typical with most being stay at home mom's & married with the exception of a couple who work. I was wondering why there aren't more discussion leaders who are single mom's, younger mom's, & working mom's which would bring more diversity to the discussion leaders panel. I know there are several that post that fit that criteria. Just curios.
There are several discussion
There are several discussion leaders that don't have "discussion leader...etc" in their signatures like me. The discussion leaders are very diverse.Take me for instance I am not a stay at home mom. I am a busy, working mom of four daughters and I am 26. My children range in age from 9-4. I just choose for that information not to follow all of my posts. If you have more questions email Yvette.
Jennifer is a discussion leader for arizonamoms.com and mommy to four beautiful girls who range from 9 to 4 years of age.
As Stacy mentioned,
As Stacy mentioned, discussion leaders are here to help me monitor the site and engage conversation.
We went through a process to identify diverse moms across the Valley. I'm still working on getting all their bios up. Some of them already have identified themselves via their signature line. Others will be shortly.
