Anybody birth at St. Joes?

myseashell's picture

Just wondering it anybody has birthed at St. Joes, and what your experience was? I had my first at Scottsdale North, second at Bethany Birth and now considering St Joes because my midwife births there. How are the rooms, nurses, environment, etc. I prefer natural births so if they are open to this I would love to know.

Thanks for any thoughts shared.

Hi I had my daughter there

Hi
I had my daughter there and really enjoyed the experience. I loved most of the nurses and the lac consultants too. My night nurse made the experience amazing. Now I didnt have a natural birth but I know people who have had a different experience there. But I believe they are v. pro natural birth- at least from what I have heard -overall I did like the envrionment there, esp. bec. I was there for five days due to complications with my pregnancy (it had nothing to do with the hospital).

I gave birth to my 2nd

I gave birth to my 2nd daughter at St. Joe's and my experience was not that great. Seems like everything went wrong there and I have no idea why. One, the a/c was not working properly in my room and the maintanance guy was taking FOREVER to fix it. The night shift nurse I had for 2 nights was nasty - moody. UGH! And there is one more thing but I am not going to go that far. Other nurses and the lac nurse were great, thou.

I had better experience and that was at Banner Good Sam with my first daughter.

I think it was just bad timing at St. Joe's....

Since Bethany Birthing

Since Bethany Birthing Center has stopped allowing births at the center, I believe that most of the midwives are practicing at Phoenix Baptist on Bethany Home Road. I would definitely choose that over any other hospital in Phoenix as they are more used to working with parents who desire an intervention free, natural birth.

I have not heard Bad things about St. Joe's, but if you don't want to go the home birth route (which is my preference!) then Phoenix Baptist would definitely be your second best option.

Hope that helps!!
