It seems like these two hospitals are better than Arrowhead but I have also seen people say to stay away from these so I'm confused, I have tours set up for both but not until next month and I really need to figure this out so I can pick the right doctor that will deliver there. I heard that if your baby needs the NICU then they send them to Thunderbird is this true? We just moved here a month ago I'm about 18 weeks I'm guessing I haven't seen a doctor since May, this will be my 3rd C-section...I'm really stressing out over all this. Please tell me what you know or your experiences so I can have a little help deciding what to do!!!! Help!! Thanks!!

I did not go to any of those
I did not go to any of those hospitals, so I am not much of a help. I delivered at Scottsdale Healthcare Shea. I had a wonderful experience there and LOVED my doctor. But I wish you the best of luck in your search and know some of the ladies here will give you wonderful advise!
Jess is a soon to be military wife raising her beautiful almost 3 year old spunky daughter in Scottsdale, trying to make it as a nurse.
At Thunderbird my Doctor was
At Thunderbird my Doctor was so nice, and so were the nurses. The nurses would even come up to me and ask how my daughter was and I felt so bad because I didnt know them, and they would then say they helped with my daughter. She was in the NICU for almost a month, and while we were there, there was some babys that were transferred to the nicu but I dont know why they were transferred. One of my friends just delivered at Arrowhead and she liked it. I got my own room at Thunderbird and all the nurses were very attentive. They took very good care of my daughter while we were there. I dont know anything about Paradise Valley though.
I delivered my first at
I delivered my first at T-bird (8 years ago) by C/S, great experience, had a nice, large private room. I was very pleased with the whole experience there. They also did a great job accomodating Dad, brought a rollaway bed in for him. I delivered the other 2 babies in Prescott. T-Bird was my favorite.

I had my baby at Paradise
I had my baby at Paradise Valley, the rooms are huge and they have really good employees. I went to labor at 11 at night and I just walked in through the emergency entrance straight to my room they did not make me wait a minute. It's a great hospital I would totally reccomend it.

I had two choices as to
I had two choices as to where I could deliver....Paradise Valley or Scottsdale Shea. Paradise Valley was much closer to us, but I heard HORRIBLE HORRIBLE things about it. I was told to not even consider it. I chose Scottsdale Shea twice and LOVED the experience. If you can go there, no brainer, that's the one. But I have a friend who is a nurse at Thunderbird and she delivered her baby there and was very happy with the experience. But I've heard to stay away from Paradise Valley and Arrowhead! Good luck!

Ditto. My docs are
Ditto. My docs are affiliated with both PV and SHC Shea. I live 2 minutes from PV, heard not so good things about it and decided to tour SHC Shea...felt so comfortable there! Awesome experience....as a matter of fact, I'm planning on having baby number 2 there this winter.
My suggestion is to tour the hospitals. You get a feel for everything.
JUST SAY NO TO PARADISE
JUST SAY NO TO PARADISE VALLEY. People have told me to take my child to mexico for healthcare ( no offense to anyone) over Paradise Valley Hospital.
My mother stayed there and by end of her week long stay, she left without anything being done to figure out what was wrong. They were not even in contact with her doctor to get previous test results, her doctor is an idiot as well, he told her to go there and didn't follow up once she was there.
She recently had to go into the hospital again at John C Lincoln since she refused to go back to PV. There they did a different procedure every day to try and figure out what was wrong. The nurses were extremely attentive and sweet and informed her as to what was being done.
I delivered at Scottsdale Osborn and had a great experience, the birthing suites are only a couple years old and the nurses were great. It is a teaching hospital so one was kinda rootin around up there and couldn't find what she was looking for.
Hope this helps

If your concern is for a
If your concern is for a good NICU, then have your baby at Good Sam. McDowell & ?? because the NICU at Phoenix Children's is right there.
Well I think I'm going to
Well I think I'm going to pick T-bird, the DR that I saw only delivers at Arrowhead and T-bird. I have heard better about T-bird than Arrowhead even though my DR says he prefers Arrowhead over T-bird cause he's closer. I liked the office and staff so I think T-bird will have to do plus It isn't to far from me I live in Surprise. The ultrasound looked good and by the babies size they say I'm 14 weeks...so I got awhile to go. Thanks for the advice though!!!

I have heard only bad things
I have heard only bad things about PV; not even to take my child there, & I live in PV! My OBGYN & Pediatrician both are on staff at Scott/Shea w/ high recommendations. However, my OB is also at Good Sam, whihc is where I delivered. They are terrific, especially it you are planning a C-Section or anticipate any complications. The Phoenix Children's NICU on site at Good Sam is an added bonus and their docs are terrific! Even if it's a drive for you, check out Good Sam.
I will be having a C-section
I will be having a C-section so I will look into Good Sam..thanks for telling me!!!

Wow, I am really surprised
Wow, I am really surprised at all the negative thoughts of Paradise Valley. I have never heard anyone (except on here) say anything bad about Paradise Valley Hospital. I had my first daughter there and LOVED IT!! The nurses and staff were awesome and seemed to be very on top of everything. And I was there for 6 days and not one complaint out of me re: the hospital ( I just really wanted to go home!!). The rooms were MUCH better than Thunderbird (where I had my second daughter), the nurses and doctors much more attentive and nice, the food was better (though my husband loved the fried mushrooms at Thunderbird), and though things were pretty hectic and hazy during my emergency c-section at PV the operating room seemed much bigger and nicer than the one at Thunderbird too. Oh, and the staff at Thunderbird, not even lying, briefly lost our baby. We are done having kids but if we had another one I would seriously consider going back to Paradise Valley Hospital. I have heard nothing but good things about Scottsdale Shea too but, of course, it is more expensive so unless your insurance covers 100% of your hospital stay I would take that into consideration too. Good luck!
I had my baby at Scottsdale
I had my baby at Scottsdale Helathcare Shea. It was an awesome experience. The nurses were great, the room was very nice with lots of amenities. I also got a Spa service while I was their, in my room. The prenatal classes prepared me so much for this experience. The instructors knew their stuff and were so nice and knowledgeable. I won't go anywhere else, and I live in Chandler, AZ.
PS. I heard they are going to level 3 NICU in November 2008
