Pregnancy fitness classes

jennyg19's picture

Hi everyone
My name is Jenn I am 21 and 24 weeks preggers with my first baby :) Can anyone give me the name of an aerobic studio or gym that teachers pregnancy aerobics or yoga? I have gained about 23lbs so far and i am starting to get depressed, I am unmotivated to go to the gym in my current condition but i think that it would really help me to join a fitness class with other pregnant women. i live in Maricopa but I work in Chandler so anywhere in the East Valley would work for me

I think lifetime fitness

I think lifetime fitness does that... I gained with my pregnancy's but it's really easy to loose after baby gets here. I wouldn't stress while your pg about weight. Enjoy the fact that you can eat what you want and gain some weight and nobody will call you fat... Just hit the gym hard after baby gets here. You will be shocked at how fast it comes off... I gained a ton more than that and by about 7 months I was back to normal.. Okay 9 months..They say it takes 9 months to put on and 9 to take it off.....

We go to Mountainside. I don't know if they have "pregnancy" specific classes, but you can check.

Don't get so depressed over

sdebralh's picture

Don't get so depressed over it, which is normal. I must say that it really hurt my ego too, because I had always watched my weight. Going from a size 28 waist to a 40 waist made me feel HUGE! and I was HUGE. I gained 60 lbs because I was starving every minute it seemed.
Just stay positive and remember you only want a healthy baby and thats all that matters. I cried at times because I felt my husband would make comments regarding my weight. He wasn't use to it either but he reminded me often that the baby was our main concern.
Just remember that you can always get your body back, but you can't always have a healthy baby, so eat right, join your gym class, and enjoy your pregnancy. After our baby was born, although I was still huge, for once, I didn't care how I looked. My baby was worth every pound gained. It may take 6 months-2 years to get your body back, but its all worth it.
