Pregnancy Rash?

braybee's picture

I'm almost 19 wks preggers and for the past 6-8 weeks I've been getting this on/off rash. It started on my sides from my underarm down to my hips, but went away within a day or two. Within the next few weeks, my knuckles and in between my fingers and soles of my feet and around my toes were so itchy I wanted to take an chainsaw to my limbs to put me out of my misery (drama queen, I know!). Now, I get these itchy bumps on my legs, thighs and stomach (like clusters of mosquito bites). They seriously come and go before I realize it. Within 12-24 hours, gone and relocated!

I told my OB about this when it was primarily hands/feet, and he said it probably had to do with hormones and perspiration....but now, a few weeks later it seems to be more all over than just my hands/feet. I go back to the doctor in two weeks and will definitely ask again, but in the mean time I was wondering if this has happened to anyone else?

I don't remember rashes in

I don't remember rashes in my pregnancies but I do remember the big brown spots on both side of my foreheard...They went away after I had the babies...slowly...

Are you taking any over the counter medication by any chance? I wonder if it is something you are doing - eating, drinking, taking OTC med that you didn't do before pregnancy that could be triggering your possible sensitivity or allergic reaction?

Sounds like PUPS to me. I can't remember what it stands for but I had it with my first and it was miserable. It started on my stomach then my ankles and worked its way up my legs. My doctor said it was a hormone thing that occurs during pregnancy and the only remedy is having the baby. Sure enough about 2 weeks after he was born the rash was gone. The itch was insane my doc said to try calamine lotion but it didn't work. Good luck!
