My daughter was mad at her teacher because for the umpteenth year in a row, they made flower pens in flowerpots for Mothers Day. She thinks it's totally unoriginal (and it really is), but I'll keep it forever, just like I'll keep the toothbrush holder that her sister made for me in art class. And just like I'll keep the "sand encrusted footprint" that her brother made when he was in preschool. Because these precious items remind me, just as my children are completely melting down at the end of the night because their dad decided they didn't deserve to get a Blizzard at DQ since they were behaving so atrociously in the car and at the restaurant, that I love them and cherish them and everything that their grimey paws make.
And even though I love Mothers Day and that they shower love and affection on me (for at least 15 minutes in the morning), what's up with me still doing laundry? My nice husband said "oh...just leave it 'til tomorrow." He's so sweet.

Happy Day After Mother's
Happy Day After Mother's Day! All of the clean up that I took a "break" from yesterday is still looming today - but I did get to go back to bed for the first time in forever. Doh!
So, we win some, we loose some. I really need to remember to involve my kids in more chores around the house. They are actually very good at helping; however, their motivation is practially nil. And, it doesn't help that I am the most picky laundry sorter ever!
You know, you just gave me an idea. I'm going to make a list of what chores I'd like to "forget" for Mother's Day next year and ask my husband to work with my kids to complete it. Wow - no pressure for what to buy, what to do, just plain, simple information on how to show a little love for Mother's Day.
p.s. I am spending the day doing laundry catch up between working, too :-)

I hear you on the laundry
I hear you on the laundry ... I was still doing it at 10pm last night!!
I didn't do laundry, but I'm
I didn't do laundry, but I'm sure it was only because our dryer is dead and we're still waiting for a delivery later this week.

I got my husband to clean
I got my husband to clean the kitchen and the floor in the kitchen where the dogs sleep (hairy). That was a nice treat. No treat on the laundry though. What's up with that anyway?

Laundry -- I hate it! My
Laundry -- I hate it! My husband almost did all of the laundry yesterday and that included folding and putting away. I'm so proud of him. That was a huge gift in my book!
I wont let my husband touch
I wont let my husband touch the laundry with a ten foot poll!! When we first got married he thought he would be sweet and do the laundry...well he dried EVERYTHING and it shrunk so much i had to go buy new clothes! needless to say, he isnt allowed to do the laundry! :) But the sweet husband he is cleaned the house, i was able to nap, TWICE! and i dont think i changed one diaper!! For my first mothers day, he did a pretty good job!
Ha!! Reminds me of a former
Ha!! Reminds me of a former boyfriend who thought that ALL underwear (including the fancy pants from Victoria's Secret) needed to be washed with chlorine bleach - he ruined many, many pairs of "lovelies." He was fired, too.

Tell your daughter - flower
Tell your daughter - flower pens rock. I've only gotten one and it is about 5 years old now and it is running out! It is the ONLY pen I've been able to keep in "my" pencil holder (a flowerpot with stickers on it). All others wander off somehow! God Bless the teachers who come up with wonderful crafts!!!

Just because the calendar
Just because the calendar includes 'special days' --- like Mother's Day, Valentine's, etc. --- that doesn't mean they are the ONLY days to show particular devotion. In our family, we don't make a big deal of these days, we do observe them but with just a little special something, and try to 'spread out' the nice treats over the course of the year. That way, every days is Mother's Day!
