In March I finally jumped on the Blogspot bandwagon and began keeping a family blogf. Mostly it is filled with pictures of our son and the things we do together, the cute things he says and new accomplishments. Do any of you blog? What do you like about it? I love that I no longer have to email pics to people because if they are truly interested they can print and save any that they love and want to keep. It is also a great way to keep far away family and friends in the daily loop as our children grow so quickly. I have begun printing them at the end of each month and hole punching them for a three ring binder categorized by month. Ihave always written letters to my son and kept a great baby book , but thought this would be a great way to keep a family journal complete with pictures for the future! I especially love the feature that allows me to post links to other families that we love so that we can all share pics and current events!

I love the idea of a blog
I love the idea of a blog like yours that is more like a family album, a record of memorable events, instead of a journal of what going on, ups and downs, etc.
I am amazed at people who can blog with such openness about their lives. I tried, but decided I couldn't do it unless I was the only one reading it. How silly is that! I felt like if the world was reading it I wouldn't be truthful, and sometimes things require brutal honesty. When my kids are grown I'll share it with them, but I think they need to be older to understand the real dynamics of a family.

It is tough to put yourself
It is tough to put yourself out there, but I think that is a lesson that my son taught me. You alwaays know how your children are thinking and feeling because they are so pure about their emotions. I find that very inspiring! I have also realized through my photos and blogging that there is so much beauty in the average day that it should be immortalized because there hasn't been one before or since that will be the same. I think it is my way of holding onto a little tighter to my son as he grows.
I think it is a great way
I think it is a great way for long distance families to keep in touch. I love reading and looking at pictures of my sister-in laws family and I have a Uncle that keeps a blog also. I do not blog myself. We had a family website when we went out of the country to get our kids. We kept it going for a while so people could see how everyone was adjusting. Then it just got to be routine and it felt weird to write about everyday life. Now that we have family moving away we may start one up again.
I have a picture site....I
I have a picture site....I haven't updated it in a while, but it's still out there..........as far as an actual blogspot, I think if I wrote down what I was actually thinking and feeling most of the time I'd get hate mail.........my take on things can be kind of "out there" and raw compared to what I see from a lot of other women.....which often rubs people the wrong way. Not many people "get" me. So, I think I would just be creating drama and exhausting myself.
I have a myspace page that I
I have a myspace page that I have a blog on and tons of pictures on. Only my family and friends have access to my page and it is set to private so the world cannot see me and my family. I don't blog extremely personal things only little stuff about the family. It's great and works for us because my sister in Geogia, my best friend in Puerto Rico and my cousin in Korea, can all see whats going on with us.

We have a rather extensive
We have a rather extensive family photo album created using coppermine that we update about once/month with pictures of things we've been doing all month. It is for grandparents and other far flung family and friends. We use godaddy as an ISP.
One suggestion: if you are going to put pictures out there, make sure your site is members only password protected and that you know how to kick off anyone who tries to create an account whom you do not recognize.
There is a rather famous case of a girl who put some pictures of a trip she took with her youth group on Flickr, and a telelcom in Australia took the picture without notification or payment and used it in ads in Australia. To add insult to injury, the ads portrayed her as a "nerd" type. She is currently suing.
You think your photos are fairly safe out there, because who's going to look at them who doesn't know you, but they can be shared and redistributed and who all knows what kind of creeps (or major corporations) has them.
We created a website with
We created a website with www.easysite.com to keep in touch with family back East. For my $10.95 per month, I can upload 2,500 pictures. Plus, tons of other pages and I can change the entire look for holidays, with the touch of a button. I actually created a quick temporary web page there for my son's upcoming birthday. I loaded it with birthday info, pictures, directions, maps, theme related stuff and RSVP page, etc.
