Hi. My family and I are planning on moving to Arizona next year. We are currently live in Northern IL. Here is our current plans: ( I hope I dont bore you all!!) Anyways, my husband and I have our trip planned to come out to Arizona the first weekend of April of this year, in a couple of weeks. He has 3 interviews lined up already and we are taking some resumes to take to some potential employers. We are also going to be looking at some houses in some different areas as well to see where we think we want to live and what not. We dont plan on buying a house out there til January of 2009 or a little sooner. Depending on if we sell our house here and when that happens.

My question is this. We are looking to live in Arizona City or Tucson. I grew up in a small town similar to Arizona City and that is where I would love to raise my two girls. Who are currently 3 and 5. I just want to make sure there are good small schools or private schools in the area where we would be living. Can I get some input on Arizona City and Tucson please as to how the areas are and things? I want to live in Arizona City cause I think it would be the small town I would want. My husband wants to live closer to Tucson cause that is where more than likely he will be working.

I look forward to chatting with you all soon,
Lori

I think Tucson is beautiful

I think Tucson is beautiful too, but we live in Mesa. My husband is from Round Lake Beach Illinois. We absolutely love it here. Its so easy to get around in Mesa. Everything is convenient, but we don't feel like we are living in the fast city.
I'm from a small town in Texas, so I wouldn't want the fast city, but living in Mesa allows me to have everything we need close by, but if we want to go downtown Phoenix for a game, then its only 20 minutes away. The heat is hot, but thats why you have air conditioner. I rather have the beautiful weather year around, then to wear 3 layers of clothes for 6 months in Illinois. I lived in Illinois for 1 year and it was too much for me.
Once we decided to move here, we went through a home rental company and we had a house waiting for us when we got here that we rented for 6 months until we bought. My husband did the same thing your husband is doing.
Good Luck! You will love it.

One Happy Mom in Arizona.

you can always try the outskirts of tuscon and still enjoy the benefits of living by the city, ie hospitals and entertainment.

Don't Hate!

Hi there......just a word of

Hi there......just a word of warning for you about Arizona City.....I have not lived there, but I did live in Casa Grande for a few years when I was in elementary school......I am from kentucky originally, and I have lived all over - Ohio, California, New Mexico, Texas.....and small towns in Arizona are very different from small towns in the midwest.
You may very well like Arizona City.....but just be prepared for the fact it's not going to be like the Midwest....and I am not just referring to the heat.
The north end of Tuscon is nice.....stay away from South Tucson.
