Hi. My family and I are planning on moving to Arizona next year. We are currently live in Northern IL. Here is our current plans: ( I hope I dont bore you all!!) Anyways, my husband and I have our trip planned to come out to Arizona the first weekend of April of this year, in a couple of weeks. He has 3 interviews lined up already and we are taking some resumes to take to some potential employers. We are also going to be looking at some houses in some different areas as well to see where we think we want to live and what not. We dont plan on buying a house out there til January of 2009 or a little sooner. Depending on if we sell our house here and when that happens.

My question is this. We are looking to live in Arizona City or Tucson. I grew up in a small town similar to Arizona City and that is where I would love to raise my two girls. Who are currently 3 and 5. I just want to make sure there are good small schools or private schools in the area where we would be living. Can I get some input on Arizona City and Tucson please as to how the areas are and things? I want to live in Arizona City cause I think it would be the small town I would want. My husband wants to live closer to Tucson cause that is where more than likely he will be working.

I look forward to chatting with you all soon,
Lori

Lori - I do not know much

Lori - I do not know much about Arizona City. I have not heard of this town, but it sounds like it exists. As for Tucson it is a larger city - smaller than Phoenix but in 'small town' standards it is considered large compared to say other small town in the state. Here is a website that has various counties and city websites for here in Arizona. I wish you the best on your travels. http://www.wowworks.com/wowcity/az.htm

I actually posted last week

I actually posted last week and no one responded. I am moving to Tucson from central Indiana and I think most of the responders on here are living in or near Phoenix. My husband started working in Tucson in early January and my 3 girls and myself have stayed back in Indiana to sell the house or wait until school is finished. My girls are 10, 8, and almost 3. We have done a lot of research concerning the areas surrounding Tucson and we chose Vail, AZ. It is only about 15 minutes from my husband's work in Tucson. I was a former teacher so schools were very important to me and Vail seems to consistently rank high in many areas of education. I would love to be able to talk to someone from the Midwest once I move out to Tucson. The girls and I are going down next week for Spring Break. Good luck in your decisions.

Well I am glad to see that

Well I am glad to see that there is someone else doing the same thing as my husband and I. We go to out next weekend for my husbands job interviews. So, that will tell us where we want to locate. I just want to stay in a small town and raise my kids there and not in a bigger town. But, we shall see. He is going out in Jan and then we will follow out in the end of May. I have yet to tell my family that we are moving and I was wondering if you had ideas on that. We are not going to tell them till Hubby has a job. My sister has moved and been back home within 6 months or less cause there was no job there for her and she did it all wrong. I dont want to do that to my parents. I am the youngest of 4 and the baby, so I know it wont be easy. But, we have to do this as a family.

Sorry to ramble,
Lori

I waited to tell everyone

I waited to tell everyone until he had the job offer. They flew us out in early November and after 2 more interviews he got the job in the middle of December. I too am the baby of my family but unfortunately I lost both my parents in my mid 20's so we didn't have the traditional family holding us back. Although when my dad was still alive we moved to Denver for a couple of years, had our first child and then my dad got sick so back to Indiana we went and were there until now. It is a major decision but I know after my girls and I went out last week that it is the right decision. It is so beautiful and my children will get to experience nature that many others will not. Vail is a small town but is growing. I took the girls to schools that they may be going to and they really liked them. You are right, you have to do it as a family and your life is your hubby and child(ren). I know my brothers and their families and my husband's father are excited for us because they now have a new free vacation destination. Any time you want to write please feel free.
