I took my son driving for the first time today...it wasn't so bad! He did rather well, too! Here's my idea...(it isn't really mine!) When we lived in Scotland, drivers who had their permits and were just learning to drive put a big red L on the back of their cars. I know this seems like getting tabbed with the Scarlett Letter, but it really helped other drivers be a little more patient with the new driver. Whenever I saw that red letter L, I backed off a bit and gave that driver more time to do his thing. I know the new drivers hated that red letter L and so would drivers here in the States, but I think it would be a great idea to implement that here. American drivers are so impatient, wouldn't it be a good idea to help new drivers out by sticking something on their car to alert everyone else to back off a little and be more patient? Maybe a simple sticker that read, "New driver" or "Learner" would be enough. What do you think???

I think it's a great idea.
I think it's a great idea. You could even do a sticker that says, "Give me a 'brake.' I'm a new driver."
Sounds like you have a good
Sounds like you have a good business idea. I bet parents would invest in a sign even if it wasn't required by law.

I love "Give me a brake, I'm a new driver!" (I spelled it that way on purpose!!!) I wonder how one goes about getting that done???
Do you know anyone who works
Do you know anyone who works with patents? You probably start there??? Heck, I don't know... :) But I think it is great, I"ll take 2 in 8 years!

I agree it is a great idea.
I agree it is a great idea. I wanted a magnet for my car when my son began driving with me on his learners permit. After an internet search we turned up a few choices - all of which he HATED. So I worked with him and his friends to design a logo and a "slogan" that they would agree to use. We now have quite a successful internet site on which we sell 3 different styles of magnets and stickers. The beauty of the magnets are they can be placed on the vehicle when your teen is driving with you - and taken off when you are driving.
They work great! Check out our story and our website at www.rookiedriver.net.
