Pediatrician in the West Valley

Does anyone have suggestions for a great pediatrician in the West Valley (Surprise, Avondale, Goodyear, etc. etc.) My daughter has been with Great Destinations (GD) since the day she was born, however I switched jobs and they are no longer on our insurance =( =( We are very sad about that, however hopeful that we can find a new pediatrician who may be just as great as the ones at GD.

If you have suggestions on who you recommend, or who you don't recommend - - please post and let me know. Thank you so much!!

After my daughters were born

After my daughters were born in 2002 and 2004, I took them both to Northwest Clinic for Children (near 39th Ave & Greenway). I chose this office based on the many recommendations I received from nurses and friends, etc. I even met with Dr. Irwin before I had my first daughter, and was so impressed. However, as my children got older, this place seemed more like a cattle farm (patients were more like a number...they got you in and out as soon as they could). It became increasingly difficult to see Dr. Irwin. If they were sick, I would have to call and leave a message on their "triage" line and wait for a call back from a nurse, who would then decide whether or not we should come into the office. It was easier to get a "well check" appointment than a sick appointment. So, with much regret, I decided to try to find a pediatrician on the west side of town (I live in Buckeye). I wanted to avoid the "farm" setting of multiple doctors in an office, because I wanted my kids to have a familiar doctor. My oldest has had kidney issues, so going to the doctor for her is a big deal. I took a shot in the dark one day and found a doctor on our insurance list...it's been the best call I have ever made!

This doctor is very thorough and caring, never rushes, always listens to my questions and answers them. I have called numerous times in the morning and have been given an appointment time usually within a two hour time frame. The first time I ever called this office, my daughter was having breathing problems. The receptionist told me their schedule was full but that they could squeeze me in, if I was willing to wait. For a new patient, I felt that was great. I went the same day and only waited about 20 minutes. The nurses here are also very friendly and good with the kids.

Best of luck to you!

I would second this opinion.

I would second this opinion. I chose this office because they are within walking distance of my home, but have been pleased with them overall. We typically see Dr. Kent Johnson in that office. Even if we end up seeing an associate of his, he always checks in with us at the end of the appointment, so I feel like he cares and keeps tabs on the care we get.

Wow, I have had the exact same experience with NW Pediatrics on 35th & Greenway office. Cattle drive and you feel just like a number. I have found Dr Ravi from someone posting here about her and love her if you are near 95th Ave & Beardsley.

We go to Surprise Pediatrics

We go to Surprise Pediatrics (Dr. Pham) in Sun City West. He is excellent with my kids, they get you in same day for urgent things, and have great girls working there as well.
There is also Pleasant Pediatrics (Dr. Ravi) Her new office is in North Peoria. She is awesome as well. My oldest really liked her when he had to have staples removed. She was so gentle and explained everything to him step by step. He even got to hold the staple remover!

We really like Dr Bennett at

We really like Dr Bennett at Estrella Peds... He is located in the medical building attached to Banner Estrella on Thomas and 101... He is so personable to the kids and he really knows what he is doing. We have tried 3 other Dr's for the babies and believe me I am one very hard mother to please when it come to the kids health. I never ever remember to call ahead and I always need last min stuff and advice after hours b/c I am a huge worrier. So a cough on a Saturday I call in. I told him all this when I met with him before my son was born and I asked if he could handle a mom like me. He does a great job and the babies seem to like him. I can't say enough about his office staff either. They are so professional and I lovehow if youc all in during the day to ask a question, they text the Dr right then and you don't get sent to some voicemail. the info is...

Dr. Serino at Desert Valley

Dr. Serino at Desert Valley Pediatrics (Bell / Reems in Surprise) is great. There's also an office in the SW valley. I looked and looked for a pediatrician that I felt really listened to me and was open to more natural methods. The only drawback is that their appointment line always has a wait time. It's worth it, though. I really like seeing the same Dr every time, rather than the round-robin mentality of the clinics. (623) 877-7337

I tried Dr Pham (Surprise Pediatrics) several times and, although nice, I felt he didn't really address the source of my child's problem, and brushed off my concerns.

Keep looking until you find one you're comfortable with!! Trust your Momma instinct!
