In a word, YES!!!!!!!!!!
In a word, YES!!!!!!!!!! LOL
I am originally from Michigan and I often equate the winter season in MI to the summer season in AZ. During the summer months, there a not a lot of outdoor activites because of the heat. Activities take place early in the morning before the day get too hot. It is not unbearable. Think of NJ in the winter. During those months, you mainly entertain yourself through indoor activities. The same holds true in AZ during the summer.
Trust me, the 9 months of wonderful weather, outweighs the 3 summer months in my opinion.

Yes, very hot!!...I am from Southern California, and well....my first year here I thought I was gonna die with the heat...however I have somewhat grown to live with it. This will be our 4th summer here in Arizona. As for the rest of the year, we just absolutely love the weather...even the rain and dirt! Don't miss California anymore!

Yes we get hot here in
Yes we get hot here in Arizona. That is not a big secret. What amazes me is that lots of outsiders do not realize we have a monsoon season. That means we get humidity, clouds, wind (dust storms) and hopefully rain. This use to happen a lot when I first moved here back in 1980. Now supposedly because the Valley of the Sun is a cement island the clouds and rain don't do what they use to. This happens starting after we have a certain dew point for 3 days in a row. Sometime at the end of June and ending in September, usually. It is weather after all and it changes. I understand the comments about comparing it to winter weather, but you never have to shovel the sunshine! There are lots of indoor activities to do and people still do things during the day outside.
Your first year here is the hardest and then you really do acclimate to the climate. Lots of us head to the beaches of Southern California to get a break from the heat or up to Northern Arizona to enjoy the cooler weather. The secret has been let out and that is why Phoenix is the 5th largest city in the country. It really gets in your blood and I love it here.

i'm a native and i'm still
i'm a native and i'm still not used to the summers. they are dreadful but the spring, fall and winter make up for it.

They are not unbearable if
They are not unbearable if not we wouldn't be one of the largest growing cities in the country. They are hot, but nothing a good dip in a pool and nice cold lemonade won't take away. In the summer during the day, you just go from air conditioner to air conditioner, just getting to your car is the hard part. I prefer the heat than the cold I've recently learned. However I do long for four seasons at times.
