Okay, so I just need some suggestions...You know how all of the party plan companies work right? Well, I've just become a member of a new one, and I'm the only consultant in AZ.
The company is called Pink Papaya, and they have some fabulous spa/body care products. I'm very impressed!
Here's my question...What would you like to see in a party, so that it's not so boring? Are you really interested in manicures and pedicures, or do you just come because your friend asked you to? What would make you want to come to the party, or be a hostess?
The second part...I'm also a certified image & wardrobe consultant...I'd like to tie this into the party somehow. Any suggestions?
I really want to get it right ladies, so any help you could provide me would be much appreciated.
Thanks!

I ususally attend because a good friend asked me. Wine or maragaritas with light snacks is always nice.
I like manicures and pedis but I think with a home party mini-manis would be great but I woulsd skip the pedis.
Don't know if you have done home parties before but here our my 2 cents.....I know you did not ask but in case you run into anyone like me....
I so not like pushy consultants (yes, I was one and was successful without being pushy). I like to go and have fun. I will usually spend 50.00 - 100.00 but if I do not like the products then I will only spend about 20.00 and say I am watching my budget right now. I do not need the consultant hounding me to use my credit card or pushing to have a party after I have said no thanks.
GOOD LUCK TO YOU!!

Honestly, I cringe everytime
Honestly, I cringe everytime I'm invited to one of these parties. I feel obligated to go, obligated to spend, usually on something I don't want or need.
My sister has made a ton of money doing these home parties (Slumber Parties). She started to supplement her income and ended up being so successful she quit her job and now does it full time (she even went to a national meeting in New Orleans and won a cruise to Hawaii!!)....She works really hard networking and meeting the right people that she knows will produce a successful party (some of which she's made over $1000 in one night!) so, I know the potential if you are able to drum up business.
Personally, I usually decline invitations to these parties, simply because I hate feeling obligated to buy. I have an arsenal of untouched spa products from the many parties I've attended, and that money down the drain is the reason I don't go anymore.
Don't let me negativity bring you down. I'm just telling it like it is. Like I said, I see the wonderful business my sister has created and I know if you put the time in, you can and will be successful!
Good luck!
p.s. I don't think posting in finance and money, in an attempt to advertise, is going to fly with a lot of the mom's here. Nice try though!
I'm more likely to attend if
I'm more likely to attend if I know I won't be listening to a long live infomercial -- even more likely if there will be adult beverages.
Consider putting together a custom catalog -- the first half about the Pink Papaya products, the second half with advice (and pictures) for improving one's wardrobe and overall image. That way you can limit your initial pitch, and spend more time answering questions and helping people try the products. You'll also have more opportunities for post-party sales, and word-of-mouth referrals.
Also be upfront about what things cost. There's a little bodega next to the RV park that has groceries, but half of the items don't have prices on them. I don't like to ask "how much"? over and over, so I just don't select anything unless I know how much it costs.
Good luck with your new venture.
