Just thought I'd share this...Today I received an email from my friend stating that because she used H&R block and had the fees taken out of the refund she was getting a paper check instead of direct deposit. So of course I looked immediately and here's what I found on IRS's website...
"If filing or preparation fees were deducted from your 2007 Refund or you received a rapid refund, you will be receiving a check instead of a direct deposit. Please see the Paper Check section of the Payment Schedule."
In order to find this listed on there, you have to click on "when will I receive my payment," then click on Economic Stimilus Payment Center, scroll down some more and then click on Where's my stimilus payment (updated 5-1-08). You can then see it in BIG BOLD LETTERS. Thanks IRS for letting us know this somewhere other than in this ONE spot (I looked several times through this site, it doesn't say it ANYWHERE else). So if your like me and probably the majority of the world that got a refund but took your fees out of it, start looking at the payment schedule for your checks to be mailed...this is when you'll actually get your money. Ugh how frustrating.

Regardless, at least we are
Regardless, at least we are all getting something. I am thrilled to be getting what I am getting and couldn't care less if it was tomorrow or next month as I am sure many of us are.
I do agree with that, but I
I do agree with that, but I (and a few other people I know) budgeted trips and other things on this money only to find out that now I have to wait for something else that was never even shown or told until after the first round of deposits went out is ridiculous. Back in April I received a notice from the IRS and it wasn't stated in that and it wasn't stated on the website in clear view. That's were my frustration is. I guess it's no big deal if you don't have plans with it, but if you do, them not stating that can put a damper on it. The bad thing is I filed my taxes long before most people (by mid January) so for me to have to wait due to my last 2 numbers in my SSN over someone who filed on the 14th of April but got to file without a fee, is even more frustrating.

I have an accountant who
I have an accountant who does my taxes and I always pay her separately..........she e-files for us, so we should be getting our direct deposit this week, according to IRS.gov.
This is an example of why it's not a good idea to budget around money you don't already have in the bank.....I never do that because I have been burned in the past. Bonuses, tax refunds, what have you................I don't make any plans until the cash is in my hot little hands or my hot little bank account in this case. I am too paranoid that something will happen and it won't be there.
I wouldn't complain.....the goverment is giving out a whole lot of cash and that doesn't happen very often. I am looking at it as a blessing................even though the skeptical part of me says the whole thing seems kind of fly by night....we are so much in debt as a nation, I don't know how they are doing this. There are some people who say the US economy will collapse in September 2008, at the end of the 3rd quarter....not sure I buy into that, but the future is kind of uncertain, so I think we should all be prepared for anything.
It's nice to finally hear
It's nice to finally hear someone ask the question of why are they even doing the rebate. Ya, I get that what goes around comes around and it's to stimulate the economy, but it just digs us deeper in to this country's debt problem as a government and as individuals.
The government isn't giving
The government isn't giving everyone money. They are giving us an advance on our tax refunds for next year. So if your refund was say $1000 this year and everything stays the exact same for next your refund will be $1000 minus whatever amount you get for your stimulus check. The only people who are getting "free" money are those whose returns are lower than their stimulus check. The government says they will not ask for the difference back.
I just went on the irs
I just went on the irs website under faq for the stimulus payment and it states on the website that our 2007 or 2008 tax refund will not be reduced based on the stimulus payment we are recieving. It dosent say anything about 2009 though, I wonder if it might effect refunds then.
Strange the old FAQ had
Strange the old FAQ had different wording and discussed how people who received more than their 2008 taxes would allow would not have to repay the excess, etc. If I can find it I'll post it.
Maybe they decided to change how they will be funding the package (I couldn't find any info on a concrete decision on funding). I saw an article discussing how some legislators proposed a tax increase on gas. I think either way this stimulus package will be paid by us.
You know now that you
You know now that you mention something about questioning it, I did read somewhere that they say to keep the breakout of what you got paid for your 2008 taxes...hmmm, I wonder what that will be about.
Yeah, I'm kind of over the whole thing. I think I was just bent because it really doesn't say it anywhere upfront about this, so I was basing my refund on the direct deposit time and nothing else. If anything, I guess I mad at myself because I spent a lot more money on a b-day gift for my hubby than I normally would and because I didn't prioritize and make him wait it out till Father's Day (a joint gift) I lost out on extra cash in my account and now will probably not get to go do what I wanted to for Mother's Day. Oh well that's another story and basically story of my lfe lol...
Either way, the extra money will be nice but I'm sure (like everything) there will be a catch later on down the road.

I agree this couldn't have
I agree this couldn't have happened in a better year for me. Of course ask me that again next year when my tax return is $600 less that it would have been and I'll let you know if I'm still happy.
So does this include if you
So does this include if you filed electronically via Turbo Tax and had the fees deducted from the refund? I guess so! I guess that's me too!
Actually, filing
Actually, filing electronically puts you in the first tier. If you paid whatever was due via direct deposit, you'll get your $600 the same way. The checks are going out (or being direct deposited) according to the last two digits of your SSN.
Stimulus. I couldn't file
Stimulus. I couldn't file (had to do an extension), because I haven't gotten a W-2 from my former employer; I'll eventually be getting my check, but it's not going to happen any time soon. My DP will be scoring much sooner; I filed for her on 4/15, and we'll see her refund and stimulus check soon.
The stimulus checks are being mailed out according to the last two digits of people's social security numbers. If you chose direct deposit or direct payment (i.e. gave the IRS your bank account info), you'll get a direct deposit. If you didn't, you'll get a check.
