We all know the statistics regarding home sales in the Valley. Just wondering, are any of you moms currently trying to sell your home? If so, how long has it been on the market, and are you at least getting showings? I'm interested in your experiences.

We had our house on the market for about 6 months. We had a few showings with all positive feedback, but no offers. Our house was listed mid-$500K which is very competitive for what we were offering, but still not even a low ball offer. We decided to take it off the market because in our neighborhood it nothing is moving at any price, some people cannot even give their homes away. I have a 2 year old at home and am having to go back to work because we can't sell our house. Hopefully, the market will turn before we have another child.
I hope so, too--best of luck

We had a similar experience--8 months on the market (also with a 2-year old, a dog, and a cat)--80+ showings, tons of positive feedback, and zero offers. We lowered our price 3 times. Still, nothing. We pulled it off the market, then got a call from a realtor requesting a showing--she said her client was extremely interested. We reluctantly agreed, and the potential client walked in, then immediately walked out. Not interested at all! Two weeks after that, we got another call from another realtor. Believe it or not, we got an offer but the buyers didn't want to close for 2 1/2 months. What choice did we have? Luckily, everything went smoothly. However, we had a very tough time finding a new home in our budget--it may be a buyers' market, but we didn't find a ton of bargains in the areas we were interested in. Sure hope the housing market turns around in the next year or so. I have friends who are in serious financial crunches right now.

About a year ago, we had our house on the market for 6 months. Like others have said, we had several viewings, and nothing but positive feedbacks, but not a single offer. We were just trying to buy something a bit bigger, so it's not like we "had" to sell, and decided after 6 months it wasn't worth the hassle. My husband and I both work full time (separate shifts), he goes to school, we have four cats, and a very high needs 2 year old (at the time; he's now 3 and has been diagnosed with high functioning autsim).
My parents made the mistake of buying a new house before their old one sold, and it took almost a year to finally sell it. They lowered the price a number of times, and had lowered it by almost $100k by the time it sold (and they were competitively priced the first time!).
It's such a tough market right now, and I wish anyone luck who needs to sell their home.
