Reduce, Reuse, Recycle! The other week, someone posted about reusing the crayons that our kids get at restaurants. I was wondering if other moms had any inventive ways that they have become "greener." I usually bring my own bags to the store, try to support local agriculture (LOVE the veggies from Crooked Carrot Farm), recycle my bottles, use CFLs (mostly), switched to organic pest control, and at least try non-toxic/green alternatives to common cleansers (though I did end up go back to my Tide laundry detergent). How have other people gone green? I'm always looking for new things to try.

I am proud to say that I try
I am proud to say that I try to recycle everything that I can. I have two recycle barrels and my goal is to have both full and less than half of the regular one full. I've been doing a good job!! Husband thinks it's another trash can. Go figure.

My husband and i sure try!
My husband and i sure try! we use cloth diapers, recycle everything we possibly can, take our own bags to stores....dont get sucked into "green" products. Most products are green without people knowing it! Phosphates is what you are looking to not use. alot of products are phosphate free. If everyone recycled imagine how much trash we could reduce!
Congrates to those who are trying! every little thing counts!
I think lunch boxes can be a
I think lunch boxes can be a big source of waste. My sister convinced me not to use plastic baggies anymore and go with plastic, reusable containers. if i do use a bag because nothing is clean, my son eats the crackers or pretzels or whatever is inside and save the bag. i reuse it a few times for the same type of food.
My son also brings home the plastic forks or spoons and we reuse those.
I haven't figured out how to eliminate the juice box waste - I don't thnk my son would go for me pouring juice in a container every day. he likes the idea of a juice box too much.

Now that the weather is
Now that the weather is getting warmer, I use the cold cycle for nearly all the laundry. During the summer months, I noticed that the cold water for laundry usually came out warm, so why bother using the energy to heat it more.
Our roof is going to need replacing soon, and both SRP, APS, and the city offer rebates for putting up a solar roof. We are looking at the individual roof tiles that are it's own solar panel. What excess energy the roof supplies is bought back from both of the power companies.
sure, fine, whatever
I am a Tupperware
I am a Tupperware Consultant, hence I invest in Tupperware Products in everything- example: for water I used insulated tumbler, instead of bottled water. I just fill it up with ice and water and bring to work, and everywhere at anytime. I used snack cup containers for snacks for my family. Rock n Serve for our lunches;
No more disposables bag for me. Plastic bags and disposables containers are piling up in landfills everywhere. By using Tupperware products a lasting alternative, I know I help reduce the landfill waste.
