My Best Mother's Day Ever

susan_hampton's picture

With Mother's Day you never quite know what you're going to "get." I did get my pedicure on Saturday. I decided to take my 5 year old daughter along to spend some one-on-one time with her.

The pedicurist said Isabel was so much like her own 5 year old daughter, whom she had actually given birth to as a surrogate. She saw the girl, who lives with adoptive parents in California, twice a year. She has started out being a surrogate for a family member who backed out late in the pregnancy, and she still found a suitable adoptive family for the child. Can you imagine?

Later that day, I got some one-on-one time in with my 8 year old son. We saw Nim's Island. I had really hoped to have time to get to talk to him about what's on his mind, how he's adjusting to his new school, but he doesn't talk much. He liked the movie. He liked getting popcorn and Sprite.

Later after the movie, Alexander gave me a hug and said with concern, "Mom? I don't know how to make breakfast in bed."

I said, "That's okay,"

"No, Mrs. Bingham (his teacher) said we HAVE to make our mom breakfast in bed. I only know how to make waffles."

"Honey, I like waffles. I like cereal, too."

"But how do I get everything upstairs, like the milk?" He was really worried about this.

"Maybe Dad will help you."

The next morning at 6:30 I got my first ever breakfast in bed, complete with Chocolate Chex, raisin muffins, tea, oh, and extra chocolate. Alexander was very pleased.

Mom was very pleased, too.

Hope all you moms had great Mom's days, please share your stories with us!

It sounds like the perfect

It sounds like the perfect day. Some of my best memories of my childhood are from when I had one of my parents to myself, not having to share with my brother.

I got a letter from my 11-yr-old daughter that was quite conversational describing how awesome I am and how lucky she is......it's a keeper and I'll cherish it forever (even if it has to be pulled out to REMIND her of those things as she hits her teen years!).

Cute story, thanks for
