I just don't get how some women can wear soooo much makeup in this heat. I usually am set to go out the door with a little mascara, lip gloss and a bit of light foundation to even my skin tone. (I will say the only times times I've layer my face is when I had to be on TV. Thankfully, Susan does that now.)
And even with my minimal approach to makeup, I've noticed how quickly my face looks less than polished. My waterproof mascara runs, though I'm not exactly looking like a raccoon, and I look shiny.
Then I see plenty of women who wear much more makeup looking fine. Even in sticky wet Orlando while on vacation, I noticed makeup-wearing women and it stayed put (maybe it was freshly coated when I saw them). I'd hardly last an hour without my face dripping in sweat and, therefore, my makeup on the tissues that I used to dab my perspiration beads.
So how are you managing not to look like you've run a marathon on the way to work? I know some makeup experts talk about powder and foundation....I'm low maintenance though when it comes to getting my work face. Am I alone in my makeup frustrations this time of year?

I cannot wear makeup in the heat without it running off either. I just use a tinted sunscreen and maybe some gloss and mascara. I don't know how some women can wear it and look so polished either but I am definitely not one of them!
Ha...no, you're not
Ha...no, you're not alone!
When I first moved to Arizona from up North - I ran into a lot of problems with eye make up literally dripping into my eyes and burn them - this usually happened when I first get into the hot car. I finally stopped doing makeup - about 95 percent of the time. I love wearing make up - don't get me wrong - just that they burn my eyes and I have tried every brand there is out there and none works....
I will only wear makeup when we have some engagement to attend. And when I do wear makeup, I use Bare Essentials products. They are awesome!

I wear Bare essentials as well and love it. I do not have a prblem with my eye make up ever running and with BE I apply the powder foundation once in the morning and it looks great all day. I am a lip gloss junkie and apply it all day. I wear make up everyday and don't have a problem with it, I love it. A thin layer of eyeliner and a two coats of mascara stays on all day.

I too wear Bare Escentuals
I too wear Bare Escentuals and love it. It only requires a light coat and looks fresh. If you need to reapply, you can do it over your existing makeup without any issues. Makes a big difference to traditional powder and foundation. Also, you can buy the little powdered paper sheets to control shine, but one thing I have discovered works as well, is available nearly everywhere, and is FREE are the toilet protectors in public bathrooms. Just tear a piece off and it absorbs oil, perspiration and shine just like that!
One thing you want to do is
One thing you want to do is make sure your skin is cool before you put on your make up. Once you’ve applied your moisturizer either place a cool washcloth or turn your blow dryer to cold and let your skin cool down. A mineral powder foundation or tinted moisturizer is best during the summer in AZ. If your waterproof mascara runs, then you may need to try a different brand. A nice shimmer on the brow bone on top of the cheek bones is perfect. Opens the eyes and lifts the cheek bones. Remember You’re Beautiful!!

I'm low maintenance when it comes to make-up, but I have friends that swear by the mary kay products. They stay on and don't come off. Personally I am glad I do not need to much to get up and go.

I'm with you Yvette. I'm low maitenance when it comes to make up and I do find it hard to keep it up with the heat. I had heard of the toilet seat cover trick but keep forgetting to use them! Thanks for the reminder.

I lived here all my life so I am used to it, but have to admit I only head out the door with make-up if going somewhere like the Dr.'s office, dentist, out to visit friends, run my kids to their hockey games and work. If I'm just going to Target or the grocery store, I go all natural just make sure I have some lotion that has some SPF and very lightly applied since I tend to have a oily face.

I can't wear makeup in the
I can't wear makeup in the heat either. Just my usual moisturizer, maybe a touch of lipstick and I'm ready to go. I can't wear mascara either - only when I'm really dressing up. Can anyone suggest a good mascara that doesn't smudge? I've tried so many. Also, who makes Bare Essentials?

Ha! I used to love wearing
Ha! I used to love wearing no makeup when I stayed home with the kids. Now I use the mineral makeup instead of liquid, which I think is the same as the Bare Escentuals, right girls? I got my set at Costco for $29, it came with foundation, eye shadow and finishing powder. I really have been happy with it, and I'm not much of a makeup person!

I love your new tag line.
As for makeup, I think I will check out mineral makeup. I've been wondering about it for some time. I chose not to wear mascara today...actually since I got a bad allergic reaction to a very adorable dog, I really can't put anything near my eyes today. The good thing, now racoon look. :)

It took some practice for me
It took some practice for me to get used to it, I had to watch the instructional CD (yeah I am that dumb when it comes to makeup!) but now I can put it on in about 5 minutes! But I would never invests hundreds in makeup. Try a starter kit first. Hope your eyes feel better soon!

Try Bare Escentuals( I spelt
Try Bare Escentuals( I spelt it wrong in my previous post as well) I have been using it for years. You can go to Ulta and they will color match you, then you buy a starter kit for $60 that has a few different pots of foundation, mineral veil which is a translucent powder, warmth (bronzer) and glee (blush). You get a powder brush, bronzer brush and blush brush. Watch the dvd. It has Spf in it too. A full size tub of powder is $25 and last 3 months. The warmth and glee and mineral veil lasts even longer. Can you tell I love the stuff?? lol

I wish i could wear no make
I wish i could wear no make up, but I have the worst dark circles under my eyes. I dont like leaving the house with them uncovered up, i feel like someone gave me black eyes.
We went to the beach and my make up got smudged, we went back to my aunts house to shower, after I had all my make up off, and my cousin tells me your make up is still smudged and i responded i dont even have any on, everyone was surprised my dark circles were that bad. I have tried lotions and all that stuff but nothing works so i just use make up to cover up.
I use true match foundation and concealer, and bare essentials finishing powder helps it stay all together.
Bare Essentials is amazing!
Bare Essentials is amazing! It's all I need. I have even tried a more expensive make up called glo minerals and I wasted my money. It just didn't cover up enough for me. I don't break out but I still have tiny red dots left over from when I did in high school. This make up truly makes me feel more confident and you can hardly feel it. I love their eyeshadow and lipgloss too. Not a fan of their mascara though.
I wear make-up everyday,
I wear make-up everyday, first thing in the am I get my face on, (dont wanna scare the children)... I dont wear alot, but I do us foundation and mascara everyday.
B. E. I s great, I tried a bunch of different expensive brands. Estee Lauder and Mac foundation, and Clinique, none lasted even Chanel. Though the Chanel powder is nice. The best I found was B.E. and Origins line, both aren't really expensive because the little you use goes a LONG way. Minerals too, you dont have to worry about them going bad in the heat or expiring if you dont use make-up that often.
I myself use Mac mascara and good ol Maybeline Great Lash, I have for years.. No problems with it smudging. I thought too, you are not suppose to wear water-proof on a daily basis, because it is harder to take off which pulls on you eyelid (causing eww wrinkles) and pulling your eyelashes off...
PS Mary Kay is coming out with a mineral brand that is really cheap and I am sure nice, haven't tried it yet... I did try out the cream recently at a facial party but I think they discontinued the cream foundation line. Very nice

I have always been a big fan
I have always been a big fan of great lash....I used lancome definicils for many years, but switched to great lash and it works pretty well.....but maybelline has another mascara that is even better - define a lash! I love it, I have the regular and waterproof if I am going to swim...but you are right, you shouldn't use waterproof everyday. I find that waterroof makeup remover stings my eyes and they bother me the next day.
I have wondered about bare essentials....I have rosacea and I use medicine to control it, but my skin is very sensitive so I have to be dilligent about skin care. I use a eucerin redness reducing moisturizer with a green tint and Clinique makeup...and I don't notice my makeup running in the heat.
The heat and humidity of monsoon season wreaks more havoc on my hair than anything....my hair is long, down to the middle of my back, and curly as hell...so when there is more moisture in the air it starts to puff a bit, even when I blow it straight or flatiron it. I could never live in Florida, I would look hideous!
Hi Katy - I have rosacea

Thanks for the tips on Bare Essentials...I had been wondering about that line.
I will check it out.
I wear make up mon-fri.....not so much on the weekends.Unless I am going to a gathering of some sort and there will be people around I haven't seen in a while. Like tonight !
I normally don't wear a lot though....just enough to make me look refreshed.
So, do you use medicine for
So, do you use medicine for it?
I use Finacea and differin, and they seem to work well.
It hasn't progressed since I was diagnosed a few years ago.
I think I will buy that BE starter kit......I just got a promotion at work and will be getting a raise.....so I deserve a treat! lol
Congrats on your
Congrats on your promotion!
And no, I do not use medicine for it anymore - mine is from years of sun damage :( so I just wear sun screen a lot. It's pretty severe as what my dermatologist said - I could use corticosteroid cream if I wanted it but decided to deal with it alone. I just find it a blessing that B.E. balance out my skin tone nicely.

Hey Katy, I had a facial at Origins in LV and I was pregnant at the time. My skin was very sensitive and I had redness on my cheeks. I was using bare minerals at the time, (this wasn't the causing factor) but she gave me a cream that you put on your face first then your moisturizers. This helped so much, I have used it ever since. It is a line from Dr. Weil that has mushroom extracts.
Plantidote Mega-Mushroom Face Serum: To optimize skin's defenses.
Awesome product, the line itself has worked wonders for me...
