Trying not to be sick

I've been fighting whatever I have for the last three or four weeks. I lost my voice for about a week but didn't feel really sick. I got my voice back on vacation. But now that I'm back, I'm hacking and my voice is gone again. I gotta say I hate it because I just don't have time to be sick.

There's always things to do at work, but that's the least of my worries right now. I was supposed to lead our Brownie troop - doing a music badge - tonight. I can't do it now because I don't want a bunch of mad mommies should I get one of their girls sick. I feel bad for putting our troop leader on the spot last night.

I was supposed to have a "game night" party at my house this Saturday with some new friends, too. But I just cancelled it. Even if I feel better by tomorrow, going to bed early the past few nights has made it impossible to run errands and clean up before a busy sports Saturday and party night.

There are other things to do, too. I won't bore you with all of them. You know how it is as moms.

I didn't want to get sick. I tried to prevent getting worse by making an appointment with my doctor a few weeks ago when I first lost my voice. The only problem was the only openings were while I was on vacation in Denver. Surely, I would be better by then. And I was for about 5 days.

Let's just hope he has an appointment. I'm reaching for the phone right now.

I've been where you are. I got sick in February and couldn't take my daughter out for her 21st birthday due to bronchitis. I took some time off work then seemed to get better then got worse again. I had to cancel more plans with friends and family and take even more time off from work. Back to the doctor again to get a different antibiotic and this time I finally knocked it out.

Take care of yourself! A lot of people depend on you.

Is this a bad sick season or

Is this a bad sick season or what?? Both of my boys missed a full week of school with this weird fever/upper respiratory virus. Now my daughter has it & my husband has been home the past two days with it (on top of horrible allergies). I'm the only one in the family who hasn't gotten it yet (knock on very hard wood!). It makes it so difficult to plan anything - seems whenever I do, someone gets sick. And I've had to cancel so many things. Oh well, what can you do?
