Please recommend your flat iron/hair straightener!

soulprincess's picture

I hear that the CHI brand is excellent, but I'd like to get some real opinions/recommendations before I break the bank on one! Which flat iron/straightener do you use? Would you recommend it? Also, what type/brand of shampoo/conditioner and styling product do you recommend using beforehand? Right now I have a Conair flat iron and I am just not getting the slick, straight, frizz free look that I'm going for. My hair is on the thinner side with a slight wave, if that makes any difference. I have never been good at doing my hair, and I just got a really cute cut, so I'm really making an effort to actually style it on a daily basis, ha ha :-) Thanks, ladies!

I just got the wet/dry

I just got the wet/dry ceramic or tourmaline Remington and it's not that good. It's easier to just quick dry your hair and then flat iron it. My sister is a stylist, and I've used her Chi --- amazing!!! Just make sure you have the warrantee if you're going to spend that kind ofmoney.

Since having my son, its sad to say but I really don't care about my hair anymore. Having said that, if I DID still care (ha), I would definitely invest in a good flat iron...especially if you love you're cut and plan on keeping it up!

My word of advise would be if you have thin hair, make sure the flatiron you get has temperature settings or you'll just fry your hair!

My hairdresser has advised

My hairdresser has advised me to be very certain that my hair is dry before using the flat iron. He says it's the most common and most damaging mistake. FWIW.

That is true, but the

That is true, but the wet/dry irons are specially designed with vents to let the steam escape.

I don't think it's nearly as damaging as damp hair and a regular flat iron

I use the Chi flat Iron and

I use the Chi flat Iron and I love it. My hait stylist recommended it to me. My cousin has the wet to dry chi flat iron and I like how that one works, and she has very curly hair. I use the Chi products before I iron it. They have the Chi silk and then there is also another spray that you can use before you put a hot iron on your hair to protect it. They are pricey, but they do make a diff on my hair. Maybe if you know your hairstylist she can get you her price/discount. That is how I have purchased my flat iron and products.

I have a CHI and it's worth

I have a CHI and it's worth the money. I've had it for 4 years and it is still working. Save your pennies, but it's the best!

I have the CHI and it was worth every penny...it gets my hair pin straight. I have long, thick, super curly hair..........it scoffs at cheap flat irons. The CHI is the only thing that even comes close to straightening my hair.
