This isn't about moms, but with the election coming, a lot of us are talking politics.
So what do you think of Cindy McCain's refusal to release her income tax return? (Obama and Clinton file joint returns with their spouses and released them earlier in the campaign.)
Here's the top of the Associated Press story:
WASHINGTON - Cindy McCain says she will never make her tax returns public even if her husband wins the White House and she becomes the first lady.
"You know, my husband and I have been married 28 years and we have filed separate tax returns for 28 years. This is a privacy issue. My husband is the candidate," Cindy McCain, wife of Republican presidential nominee-in-waiting John McCain, said in an interview aired on NBC's "Today" on Thursday.
Asked if she would release her tax returns if she was first lady, Cindy McCain said: "No."
The Arizona senator released his tax return last month, reporting he had a total income of $405,409 in 2007 and paid $84,460 in federal income taxes. He files his return separately from his wife, an heiress to a Phoenix-based beer distributing company whose fortune is in the $100 million range.
Sen. McCain is routinely is ranked among the richest lawmakers in Congress, but he and his wife have kept their finances separate throughout their marriage. A prenuptial agreement left much of the family's assets in Cindy McCain's name.

They've been keeping their
They've been keeping their money separate for almost THREE DECADES, so to expect them to change now --- even as a presidential candidate --- seems unfair and pointless. If they did, it would just be to avoid snarky comments and mud slinging from 'the other party.'
It would be different if they USED TO file jointly and now are changing the way they do things. Then I think more 'disclosure' would be in order.
I honestly don't understand
I honestly don't understand why people are flashing their tax returns as it is anyway? What's the big deal? Are we looking to see how they make their money & where it comes from? I'm confused. I sure don't want people to see how broke I am. I'll tell them if they really want to know!!

I think if you are in the
I think if you are in the running to be the President of the United States and if history shows that everyone else that has run before you has made their tax returns public then I think you have a duty to show yours and I think Cindy McCain will be hurting her husband if she refuses. I didn't know that that was made public but as a voter I would like to know what they have made and how they got their income. I think that is important. maybe Cindy McCain has something to hide. Why else would she not want to make it public? The privacy thing is a joke... She should know that with her husband running for President then nothing is private for her and it shouldn't be...
