politics as usual

This upcoming presidential election will be my sixth since being able to vote (no need to do any math :o) and I have begun to see a pattern.

It matters not who the candidates are or even what party they are connected to - election after election I am hearing the same ol' stuff: Saving social sucurity, providing health care for everyone, not raising taxes... My frustration is that no matted how many times candidates mention how dire it is we fix these problems, nothing ever changes. We elect them hoping they will get it done, but once they sit in the oval office, their hands are tied up with a congress that won't work together and special interest groups that need to be paid back for their campaign dollars.

I once believed that elected officials were sent to Washington to represent the people who sent them there. It's hard to know who out of all the candidates has the right formula to change Washington. So do we consult the magic eight ball, or throw the dice?

sure, fine, whatever

It is frustrating isn't it!

It is frustrating isn't it! I fear that many politicians although good intentions promise too much, new programs but no taxes and then can't do anything. I think if we really want to get back on track we are going to have to find a leader who can convince us that we need to invest more to pay off the American debt and take care of programs that have been neglected AND that this is necessary to benefit us (and our children). And ultimately will lead to more prosperity and lower costs in the future. I really think until we are asked and willing to pay up for the expenses we've incurred as the adults, we will only be carrying the debt and problems on for our children, who don't deserve them.
