I think it is so important that we celebrate Advent with our children. It is so easy to get wrapped up in the fun of Christmas and forget what it is truly all about. Advent means 'waiting' and it requires, I think, a certain patient anticipation. Hopefully, we are not prepping our kids to be anticipating just ripping open their presents on Christmas Day, but instead the celebration of a Savior being born, which is Christ the Lord!

I'm so glad I read this post, because I never knew what Advent meant! My children receive Advent calendars each year from their grandmother, and now it has become one of their favorite traditions.
