I know employees at the corporate headquarters of Petsmart can bring their pets to work any day, how cool would that be!! Of course I'm sure they have to be obedient and under control. Are you brining your pet to work tomorrow? What kind of pets does everyone have here?
I have 3 dogs and a cat. A 8 or 9 year old black cocker spaniel, he was a stray who wandered into our yard years ago. We searched & searched for his owners including putting ads in the paper and we to no avail. We also have a 3 year old crazy Bichon Frise :-) and a 2 year old daschund!! We also have a 12 year old cat who despises the dogs, but does her best to tolerate them.

No offense, and I'll
No offense, and I'll apologize up front because you'll probably disagree with the below commentary.....but when I glanced at that story on azcentral, I thought it was a joke. Bring your pets to work day........seriously? Oh brother! I don't think pets belong in most workplaces, and I cannot imagine bringing my dog to my office....I'll be really suprised(and a little annoyed) if my company allows this. I don't want to be sitting in my cube trying to write code and listening to animal noise, its enough that I have to endure the incessant yammering of some of the humans in the vicinity.
What is the purpose of this exercise.......??? I can see bringing your child, so they can learn about what mom or dad does for a living....but I seriously doubt that pets give a hoot....lol
My husband used to work for a small software company, and occasionally some of his co-workers would bring their dogs in, and he said it was a real nuisance. They would roam the office pestering people, but the owners would kind of wave off any complaints by saying "oh, they like you" or "they are just being freindly"............lol
Katy1999 I agree with you.
Katy1999 I agree with you. What if you are allergic to someone's animal? What if you are afraid of said animal? I love animals and we had to put our beloved dog down last year but I really don't like walking into a HomeDepot and someone has their dog with them. Last time it happened, the dog did nothing but bark. I know children that are afraid of dogs, they stay away from pet places, but what about other places people seem to feel they can bring their animals to.
Speaking of bringing your child to work, our school district sends out a notice and asks parents not to do this because of the school that will be missed. They ask you do it on break. Makes sense to me.
I couldn't bring my animal to work - I would have a major problem :)
I understand loving your animal, but at what price?

I have to agree with Katy.
I have to agree with Katy. If you've ever been to a "take your dog to the ballpark day,'' you would know why this isn't a good idea. Lots of chaos and lots of poop. Not exactly a good work environment. Maybe a Take You Dog to the Company Picnic would be a better option.
sure, fine, whatever
This is without a doubt the
This is without a doubt the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard of!!! This is right up there with people bringing their pets into the grocery store. I can't stand how people treat their animals like humans. To me the only animals that need to be in public places are service animals!
Silly! I had a coworker
Silly! I had a coworker that brought in her dog because she was taking him to the vet for a routine exam. The vet was close to work so she thought she was smart consolidating trips. Ends up the dog started vomiting and pooping while she was in a meeting. The dog was gated in her office which she shared with someone else. The someone else ended up cleaning the messes up. Yuck.

I think it would completely
I think it would completely depend upon my place of employ, and right now I don't think anyone would appreciate my bringing any pet to work. It's not a pet-friendly environment.
I love the idea; it makes me smile because I am reminded of a recent cartoon with an image of cubicles with cats sitting on everyone's keyboard during "the last bring your cat to work day" (Bizarro, I think was the comic, or Pardon My Planet?)
Both of us will just be less crazy if she stays home.
I have my oldest daughter
I have my oldest daughter with me at work right now, does she count as a pet? Lol...kidding she is literally watching me type right now saying "moooooooom" I am sooo mean aren't I ;)

Yesterday was the take your daughter to work day after they moved it from April and today take your dog. I told my husband and I got the adolescent eye roll! Must have learned it from me.

lol...every once in the
lol...every once in the while if my boss is gone, I'll bring my kids in to work. My son is 12 so he usually can help with filing and stuff, my daughter is 7 and she usually will color and watch dvd's in my boss' office. However, I always get a lot less done with them around. Bringing a dog to work would get on my last nerve probably, but only because I would be annoyed that I'd have to take it outside and have to set up for it!!!

I love dogs, but after our
I love dogs, but after our lab died we didn't replace her mostly because I'm so allergic. I built up a tolerance for her, but honestly, I hate what allergies do to me.
Case in point: I dropped off my daughter at her friend's home yesterday, their dog got out and so I helped get him in the house. Well, I guess I got distracted when I got back to our house and didn't wash my hands or change my shirt. Next thing I know, I'm scratching my eyes out. They're still a little red and I'm just very allergic.
So while I love animals and wish I could have another, if pets showed up to work I would be so sick or uncomfortable with my allergies for the better part of a day and possibly into the night.

I work from home, so Spice
I work from home, so Spice (the aged dog), Olivia (we named her while watching Law & Order SVU), and Lazarus (brought back to life by a big, burly, gentle firefighter) are with me every day at work. They are completely unimpressed.
Now, if I could have a "send your pet to work" day, that'd be awesome. I could eat a sandwich at my desk without having an audience hoping that I'll drop it.
Well, I hear you
Well, I hear you momto1lil1...it's a fun thing, if the evironment's appropriate.
I guess I'm in the minority here, but if I had the opportunity to bring my pets, I would be there. Most evironments that allow that have strict rules regarding noise, behavior, etc. And I would assume you would be aware of said policy before working at that particular place, and if you don't like, don't work there.
We were at a place in our lives where my husband moved out to Prescott to get things set up while I stayed back in CA to sell the house. I was still working (12 hours/day), and had to leave my dogs kenneled up all day-due to house being on market. Do you know how sick I was all day??? So not fair...and I worked at a vet.
As a vet tech I have seen animals placed on pedestals or treated as the dogs they are. Everyone has a different opinion regarding how animals are to treated in the household environment, which is fine.
No, not every workplace is appropriate for animals, but quite frankly, not every environment is appropriate for kids. At my first job, I would have rather had my bosses dogs at the clinic than his kids!
Take your pet to work day
Take your pet to work day for me, would mean get no work done because our little Jack Russell Terrier, Moose Traxx, would not settle down for one moment. She actually is a great dog, and not too hyper at home, but around other dogs, people, etc... it would not be a good idea.
Depending on the work environment and the temperament of your dog, I could see it maybe working. I will say thought that at the school I used to work at people did bring their dogs to work in the summer time occasionally, and the minute I saw one have an accident in a classroom, I thought this really is not a good idea.
