Very Un-Professional Coworker

Oh My Flippin Lord!!!!!!!

Please....Tell me....How in the WORLD people can be so RUDE!!!!!!!

I work in a very tight knit enviornment. I am a scheduler for a security company that mainly monitors homes in Scottsdale, Paradise Valley, Fountain Hills, etc. Very professional, but somewhat laid back in the "family" sense.

One of my techs, COMPLETELY disrespected me over the telephone and I'M AT A LOSS!!!!

I have no idea how to deal with it!!! It has happend to me a million times, but this time it is different. It wasn't a personal or even professional disrespect. It was more like "defiance". Like from my 4 year old. Like, "na na na na na na, I'm not going to do what you say!"

Other that explaining to our manager that I will not tolerate my techs behaving like that towards me, what else can I do? One of my co-workers (also a woman) told me to get even. But knowing me, I am not a vendictive person and I don't really have the heart.

How would you handle this?

I would talk to the tech in

I would talk to the tech in question first before I went running to a supervisor. I think everyone deserves a chance to correct a poor behavior. Make it clear that you will not tolerate being treated that way and that you will go to a supervisor the next time. If it's an ongoing pattern, you'll need to bring in a supervisor to put a stop to it.

Definately talk to the tech

Definately talk to the tech first.
And also, if this has happened to you a million times before, you might take a look at why this keeps happening - try to be objective about a possible role you're playing in the situation.

Well with the company I work

Well with the company I work for now, it has happend much less because I have a better quality of co-workers. But, in the past, it has come down to me having to tell supervisors that when I schedule something for a technician, it is thier responsibility to do what I tell them to do. I know that sounds harsh, but that is my job. They know what thier job is and it is my responsibility to give it to them. Bottom line is the disrespect issue. I am the type of person where I will bend over backwards to help my guys, but when they treat me like (inappropriate term), I need to let them know initially that it will not be tolerated.

I would tape this person and

I would tape this person and let them hear how they sound to you. If that did not work, I'd let their boss hear it. My work place has a/v taping in everyroom and I tell ya what, nobody is ever too far out of line.
