I was going through all the 'hand-me downs' for my second child (I have 2 boys & their bdays are almost 3 years apart - just under 2 weeks difference.) So my second son gets to use all my first sons clothing. So, I guess I must have forgotten at what age my first son wore his outfits as I am finding my second child wearing larger sizes than his age (he's 5 months old & is wearing 12 month clothing.) So, I'm going through the clothes quickly. However, I found a few Baby Gap outfits that were gifts in the pile of clothes (I typically don't shop there) and they are 6-12 months in size. I could not even get the shirt over my baby's head! They are soo small. I tried the 12-18 month shirts and they are barely going to fit him (like maybe for another week only!) So, I am rethinking how to organize all the clothing especially since we had several baby gap outfits as gifts & I packed everything by approximate size (based on my older son - when he used it.) Do many of you find that Baby Gap clothing runs extremely small? It looks like their shirts are very slender & my little guy is 95th percentile in weight - so his cute belly does not fit in these outfits that are supposed to be his size. I don't seem to have this same problem with Carter's or Target brand clothing. Do many of you find this common (Baby Gap running small) or is just dependent on the baby themselves? I think I've forgotten how Baby Gap runs (in sizes.)

I haven't shopped at baby
I haven't shopped at baby gap, but i may start now. I have the exact opposite problem....my almost 18 month old daughter is 87 percentile in height and 13 percentile in weight and all of her 18 month dresses fit her in length, but she looks like she is swimming in the dress, tops, pants or shorts.
The 12 month old clothes still fit her, except for the length. Dresses look like long shirts, pants are high waters and shorts look like daisy dukes (LOL) It's driving me crazy!!!

I found that Target brand
I found that Target brand runs a lot larger, my kids had onesies and short and tees that I kept packing away until the next season. Carter's seems to depend. My daughter had some Carter's dresses that she outgrew really fast, yet t-shirts and less fussy Carter stuff seemed to work longer. I think the more pricey "brand names" like Gap, Ralph Lauren, etc. run smaller. Some of the items we got for gifts like Little Me, Absorba and Ralph Lauren were really tiny and we outgrew those the fastest, bummer since they are so well made they last forever!

Everything i have ever
Everything i have ever bought or gotten by hand me downs from Gap were extreamly too small. I have my son, 19 months, wearing 2 and 3T shirts. Target is good for bigger sized clothes, my son is still in some of his 18month clothes from Target.

I don't shop at the Gap
I don't shop at the Gap either, but my daughter is 100% in height, and 75% in weight. She is 18 months old and wears 24 months, or 2T. Depends on your baby. My daughter has a long torso, a belly, long legs, and big feet. I shop for what she looks comfortable in. I have noticed that Gerber onesies tend to shrink pretty bad. There are a few brands out there that do. I also shop at Target for her clothes, because I can bargin shop, and get stuff for a few days at once. Go with what fits if you ask me. Every baby is different.

It might be Baby Gap, but it
It might be Baby Gap, but it may be that you washed and dried all your older son's stuff so many times things are small. I have 3 boys close in age, and different sizes (one 50th %, one 5th % and one 95th %) and they all seem to be able to wear the older clothes one stage earlier.

Seems right to me. Just like
Seems right to me. Just like my jeans - I am terrible - always shrinking them! Or am I getting bigger? Don't answer that! ;)
My son has always been >95%
My son has always been >95% for height and weight(he's just turned 2 and in a 4T.) So, it seems like alot of manufacturers stuff is small for him. I have had better luck with Old Navy which is funny because they are owned by Gap. Hmmm......
I have experienced this with
I have experienced this with some brands.
Personally, I don't think children's clothing should be sized by months (Ex: 3 months, 3-6 M, 9 M.) or numbers. Other countries use weight as a practical sizing method. Because kids are all different. What fits your 6-month old, may not fit my 6-month old. But if your six month old is 22 lbs. and my 9-moth old is 22 lbs., we'd both know that size 'X' is the correct choice. Family and friends wouldn't have to guess either.
Besides, what does 3M mean? Does it mean up to 3 months or 3 months and up? Basically I feel if I buy 3M, it's either going to fit too big or too small.

My experience with Baby Gap
My experience with Baby Gap clothes is that they do run small until they hit the 2 toddler size and then I think it runs true to size.
