Hey moms, next Monday on AZ Midday I am doing a segment on affordable gifts for Father's Day, and after shopping for hours today, I have to say, there is not much out there that is affordable! How about sharing some of your ideas with me? What do you do on Father's Day that costs $25 or less?

Last Fathers Day I took my 3
Last Fathers Day I took my 3 yr old son to "As You Wish" pottery painting and we picked out a big plate and I let him paint all over it and then did his handprints in the middle and wrote "HAPPY FATHERS DAY on top and LOVE ISAIAH on bottom. I like to always give (and receive) personal gifts for fathers day and mothers day that were made or had a "daddy" or "mommy" theme.

Dad ONLY treat baskets are a big hit for us! The kids and I fill a basket or big tin with all his favorite snacks: Doritos, candy bars, jelly beans, honey-roasted peanuts, etc. --- and these are for DAD ONLY!!! They usually last him for awhile, and he takes some to work too for special 'pick me ups' that are not only tasty, but remind him that HE is special too!
And of course, we always note on the card that everything is packed with EXTRA LOVE!

We got a "World's Best Dad"
We got a "World's Best Dad" T shirt and our 4 kids all put their hand print on it with fabric paints, and I wrote their names under. Then across the top I wrote "TEAM SMITH" and the date. He loves it! But acts confused when other Dad's also have the "World's Best" title and accompanying shirt... (I get to point out that that Dad isn't from "TEAM SMITH" and he relaxes...)

A gift from older kids - my high school kids made a booklet titled, "Why Dad is the Greatest." They wrote brief sentences and inserted photos. They did this all on their computer. I had looked at buying one of the Hallmark books like this but my kids are so computer savy - they enjoyed it more this way. Nice post topic.

I just cashed in 1,500 airline miles (far short of the 25,000 you would need for a free ticket) to get my husband a free subscription to Sports Illustrated for a full year!

I had a personalized photo mug -- just dad and son -- made for about $15. My husband dropped the cup so he now uses it as a pencil holder.

My husband loves breakfast
My husband loves breakfast so one idea would be to have the kids help make breakfast for Dad. Definitely under $25.
Another idea would be to hire someone to wash the car or do the yard work (or part of the yard depending on size/cost for service). Give Dad a break that weekend from doing the usual chores.
LOVE reading everyone's ideas too. I've gotta start thinking about my husband and my dad.....

My husband loves golf, so I got him a gift card on www.GiftCardGolf.com which he can redeem for green fees to the course of his choice, for lessons, new clubs... it's truly the perfect gift!
Also, I figure he helps out enough around the house and with the kids, so a gift to get him out with friends is a good one for daddy day.
Cheers,
Jane
