Candle wax & wood

mwheeler's picture

While I was out last night. My husband and son thought playing a game of football in the famliy room would pass the time.Until the nerf ball hit a candle that was lit and wax went flying every where mostly on my wood kitchen white cabinets and wood floor.Any tricks to remove the wax without destroying the paint or wood?? Thanks!!!

I had a similar situation,

I had a similar situation, but the wax got all over my new carpet! I don't know if this will work for you, but I tried it and it worked. Take a paper towel and lay it over the wax. Then, use a slightly warm iron and iron over the paper towel. The heat melts the wax and the towel soaks it up! Try Googling some other ideas, but I got all the wax out of my carpet. Good luck!

I would try dyi.com also and see if they have some ideas. The real question...are the husband and son still alive??? LOL...

If it makes you feel any better, one Friday my husband and son made a game where they had to bounce a golf ball over a chair and land it into my washer...my washer now has about 10 dents in it.

LOL.....they are alive...but the two of them where looking for the nearest exit!
Thanks for the tips...I did try the iron and it did a pretty good job.....at least it got the wax up.However the chemicals are still in the paint....so I think I must paint....could be worse!
Thanks again!

Hi, my husband runs a custom

Hi, my husband runs a custom candle company and we always tell people to use an ice cube. Set the cube on the wax and it will come right off with your finger nail, I can't guarantee that the dye will come off tho. It just depends how long the wax has been on the wood and if the candle company that made the candle used dye or pigment to color the candle. Good luck.
