Help! I'm having major organization issues! How do you keep your paperwork, notes, numbers, etc. organized for all your different activities? Not only do I have my own stuff to keep organized (pto, scouts, sunday school) but all my kids' activities & their paperwork from school as well. Should I develop a special filing system? And how? Any advice would be appreciated 'cuz I've GOT to get organized and soon!

For my kids stuff, I have little boxes( they are kind of like shoe boxes but for paper) that I lable for who and for what it is...for exapmle, "Jacob - Sunday School '08". They are stackable and go it the closet or wherever they need to go so it is easy to get to. And if you have a lot of paperwork for you, you can do that or just get a little filing box. It is about what works for you. Just find a system that fits your needs and use it.

I went to Storables (was "Organized Living") and bought those clear see through containers. They also sell a pen that is wipeable to note what you have on the container. It worked perfectly for the major organizing items (stuff I dont get to very often). The only thing is that I find I am sooo busy that my 'to file' container is overflowing. So, even if you have an effective system down - you have to make the time to file it in the proper place (in our case file cabinet.) So - i think whatever method you find...just be consistent...with removing things from it over time. That helps lots.

This made me laugh because I want a "Sven" from the cellular phone commercial. I forget which company it;s for (Sprint maybe).

Sven wakes everyone up, gets them organized and eating a healthy breakfast and out the door on time and hands out sweaters on the way out.

I could so use a "Sven"

First I have a brain. My brain is a small black planner with full month calendars and small folders in the front and back. Everything, everyone does daily goes in my brain. I am very visual so its better for me to write things down in my planner (brain) vs storing it into my phone. Next I have these cute purple expandle folders with dividers that I bought from Target. Each kid has one, with sections, g scouts, softball, soccer, church, dance, bday parties etc. I store the flyers, games schedules and things like that in the folders. The folders are like vinyl and transperant with a fold over flap with a loop thingy so nothing falls out.My brain has everyones activities and everyone has a folder that I keep and manage. Sometimes I just leave the folders in the truck. This is how I keep my family organized. I'm actually kind of o.c.c on organization and have a ton of other tips if you need them :)

Great ideas. I like the clear, stackable storage containers particularly - that way I can see what's in there. The "brain" idea is a good one too - I think I need a larger engagement planner. Of course a "Sven" would make my life a whole lot easier, too!
