Ziploc Zip & Steam Bags

momto1lil1's picture

I bought these reluctantly because I usually fall for what I think is a good time saving and effective way of doing things and end up waisting my money because they turn out to be bust. However, these really work. I steamed broccoli in them the other night to go with dinner and in 3 1/2 minute whalla the broccoli was steamed, just the right tenderness and ready to eat. I can't remember how much I paid for these, but they are definitely worth it. I'm horrible with trying to steam veggies on the stove or microwave I always end up steaming them too long or not long enough. These bags are super easy, put the veggies in and put them in the microwave for the amount of time the directions tell you to for the amount of veggies you're steaming. Give 'em a try!!

Thanks for sharing your feedback! Steamed vegetables taste so much better than boiled. You can sprinkle in your seasoning prior to putting the bag in the micro, too!

Speaking of Ziplocs...

A friend of mine told me that she freezes her meat in Ziplocks, packed with spices and/or marinade. As the meat thaws, it's being seasoned. I've tried this many times and it really works well.

Though I use Tupperware for freezing and microwave! No waste-no trash and I re-use them everytime. They are wise investment--and now we have 8 pc of FridgeSmart at 50% off that will save you tons of money in keeping your veggies and fruits to stay fresh longer in your fridge. This is a smart storing container especially when you buy veggies/fruits at bulk.

The Tupperware does work really well and is no waste. But I will try the spice idea next time I freeze meats - that makes perfect sense. never thought of it. thanks.

I've been wondering if these were worth buying! I'll have to have them a try now.

And freezing with a marinade is such a great idea.

I like the Ziploc steamers, b/c my daughter isn't old enough to handle the boiling water in the pan, etc..,,,but she can do these! And loves to feel involved with our meal preparation.

I belong to Bzzagent. They have products that they want you to try and talk about. They had a campaign for Ziplock that I signed up to do. I loved them. Fresh corn is the best! I also liked the sizes they came in.
