Anyone been to these stores yet? I went to one for the 1st time today and was impressed. I noticed that some of the items were higher priced than at normal grocery stores, i.e. Fry's, Safeway, etc. but other stuff was more reasonably priced. I liked the concept. What do others think?

I thought it was pretty nice
I thought it was pretty nice too. I'm not sure how often I'll go just because it's another stop for me to haul in two little ones! I'm kind of in the phase right now where the fewer stops I make, the better! I need someplace that has everything I need. That being said, they did have a lot of nice, healthy food, and they always have a $5 off $20 purchase which is quite a bit at the grocery store! They even let you combine coupons, so I bought $40 worth of food for $30.

Oh I've been wanting to try one of these too. Can you not do all of your shopping there? If not what types of products don't they carry?

Living here in Yuma has made me miss stores such as Fresh and Easy, Trader Joes, and Sprouts.

A friend of mine swears by the seafood there. She's a waitress at a pricey sea food restaurant so I definately trust her opinion.

My husband and son had lunch
My husband and son had lunch there the other day and they thought the prices were very good. They are building one closer to my house and I will probably wait until that one opens. Thanks for the fish tip....It is getting really pricy at the market.
There is a Fresh and Easy
There is a Fresh and Easy that just opened up right around the corner from my house. With those $5 off of $20 coupons, I probably go once or twice a week. I think it's a great store for to run in and pick up a few things. I would never do my big shopping there though...It's not that kind of store.
I find the store very convenient and simple, carrying mostly everything you need.
Another bonus...after 2pm or 3pm(??) they discount almost everything that has that day as the use by date. I swear the stuff is just fine (and I'm a freak when it comes to freshness!). If you're making dinner that night, you can get a SMOKING deal! Salads, produce, prepared foods, meats, bread/bakery all like 50-70% off!
p.s.
the roasted banana gelato is out of this world!
I love Fresh and easy and
I love Fresh and easy and frequent them a few times a week. As mentioned they do offer $5 off a $20 purchase and you can use up to three coupons at a time. All of their food is fresh so they mark down daily. You can get meat at a great price and freeze it. Their bread is baked daily so they mark down the bread every couple of days. I have purchased loaves at $0.42 a loaf and froze them. They say their produce is farm to store in 24 hours and mark down the fruit often a well. It works for me because I have kind of a large family so we go through food fast. I like that I can run in and get a few things and get out. Versus running from one side of a store to another to get two things. Their hummus is really good.

I've been in the one near
I've been in the one near us. It felt very European, which makes sense since it is owned by a British Company. It doesn't have everything a "normal" store has. For example I think they only had one or two toothpaste choices.
I thought the fruit was well priced and the bread was specialty and was good but not cheap.
I was disappointed by all the wrapping this concept uses and that the serving containers are not numbers that are recyclable in Phoenix. So, a lot of waste is created which seems at odds with the concept.
I'll probably go back, but not on a regular basis.

It sounds like I am in the
It sounds like I am in the minority here, but I wasn't impressed. However, I have only gone once, and didn't really look around that much. I went in the check fruit and milk prices, and they were higher than everywhere else. Plus, their fruit was all pre-packaged.
I might have to try looking after the 3:00 markdowns, though. Was not aware of that.
The stores sound good but
The stores sound good but actually getting there is another thing. It always seems like another trip and by then it's easier to just pick up what I need at the usual grocery store.
