Fresh Produce in the Borgata is one of my best friends favorite stores. She really likes it and has shopped there many times before. My friend is about as consciencous and law abiding as one can be, she was even in there to kill time while her husband did volunteer work for a Ranger group. Anyway, my friend is a slow shopper. She was taking her time looking at things for gifts, for her trip to Europe next month, etc, when she noticed the clerk was staring at her. She asked "are you staring at me?" and the clerk said "We have problems with shoplifters" Aghast, my friend said "Do you think I am a shoplifter?" the clerk said "yes, you are a slow shopper and we have problems with shoplifting in this store."
Well my friend of course dropped everything she was planning on purchasing asked this clerk her name and she said "I don't have one, I am a visitor." (I never knew you were nameless when you were visiting someplace, that must be a new social phenomenon), so she asked for a Manager's card and left, stunned and upset.
She could hardly wait to get home and write a letter. She has and she is going to include with it a photo of all the things she has purchased there (and include her credit card number so they can verify she PURCHASED ALL those things there) as well as an oath to NEVER shop there again and to tell anyone who will listen about her experience.
BEWARE IF YOU SHOP in FRESH PRODUCE!
My friend carries a purse that is the smallest thing I've ever seen funtion as a purse. IF she were a shoplifter, I have no idea where she would stash the goods. We can laugh about it now, since it is so outrageous, but she was MAD.
Has anything like this ever happened to anyone else at this store or elsewhere??? What did YOU do?

This hasn't happened to me
This hasn't happened to me since I was a teenager (seems to happen to teenagers a lot), and at the time I thought it would be funny to continue said behavior, since technically, I wasn't doing anything wrong. In retrospect, it probably wasn't the best idea.
I'd send the letter off to the store. If she doesn't get an answer she's satisfied with, or gets no answer, I'd take my business elsewhere.
She is definately taking her
She is definately taking her business elsewhere. She was going to send all the clothes back with her letter, but I told her a picture would get the point across and she could still wear the clothes, and not pay postage. I don't think she wants to support them in any way, and won't even wear what she has purchased. So, keep your eye out at Goodwill or My Sister's Closet, some cute stuff is coming!
