Sorry but if anyone can help...I just signed up here the other day to ask about childcare costs in Phoenix area..and right now In not sure where to go with my next question...My husband and I are contemplating a move there form NY and he was going to come out in April and take the Fire Department test. We printed the application which was available for 1 week. Not realizing so was the study guide. We figured when we got back to NY from Phoenix that he could go online and get it. WRONG! Anyway...I emailed the Phoenix gov. and they said sorry this was the only time it was aavailable..If anyone knows anyone who knows anyone who could email this study guide to me I would HIGHLY appreciate it. Thanks a bunch
Kelly

Oh gosh, that is
Oh gosh, that is unfortunate. I've heard that getting into the Phoenix Fire Dept. is very hard. It is one of the top fire depts in the nation. Not to discourage you - mostly to motivate him to really study hard once he gets ahold of that study guide - I heard that 75% of those who take the test fail the first time. Again, not to discourage. They typically fail in one of the three: the paper exam, the physical exam, or the interview. I knew of one person that took the test 4 times (that's 4 years) before he got into the dept. He told me he had his mind set on working for the dept. and just tried harder each year until he finally passed. I sure hope you can track down that study guide - I'm sure it will help tremendously. Oh also - the person who once told me this also mentioned that he goes for a run in the 120 degree summer weather for a workout (that is how in shape he is that his body can tolerate the heat.) So, train...train...train...in the gym.

Hey guess what! If your
Hey guess what! If your husband REALLY cared about becoming part of the phoenix FD, he would have taken the time to download and print the study guide. If you looked at the announcement, you would have realized that the study guide and application were only avalible for one week. No exceptions. Anybody who is serious abou applying would have read that. So how about he learns from his mistakes and tires again next year. He does not deserve to apply when there are so many of us out there who did it right THE FIRST TIME. Futhermore, now that he has royally funked up, he is depending on his wife to correct the situation. Your husband is an idiot.
I see you are slightly
I see you are slightly stressed about the test, and from the looks of your spelling you should be b/c if you can't spell you must be having a hard time reading that 58 page study guide that, well yes, we have acquried :). Which will also make the reading comprehension slightly difficult too huh? Hope you're good at math :) Good luck!
I see we are trash talking.
I see we are trash talking. Is my spelling bad on 3 words? I am sorry to offend your scholarly sensibility. Am I stressed about the test? Hardly. I am already a firefighter and Arizona would merely be a change of scenery for me. By the way, you are correct. It just so happens that I am good at math; my bachelors in fire engineering proves that. I also think I proved my reading comprehension skills when I aced the national paramedic exam. Your husband, who can't seem to even read directions, is the one who should be stressing. Am I bragging about myself? You bet. Because I did all this without the assistance of some hag wife. It's called being driven. What does your husband have on me? Not a darn thing. Too bad you can't go in there and take the test for him; you seem to be quite the candidate. It's time to face the truth. The FD is no place for a dependent loser like your husband.
Im curious as to where you
Im curious as to where you are a paid fire fighter b/c I come from a FF family and so does my husband and no fire fighter I know (and I know plenty) would ever put such a post of someone is not good enough to take the test. And just so you know he'd be taking a pay cut of about $70,000 a yr to join the PFD. I suppose thats a problem to you too. However, this is something he wants to do and if it takes ME finding what he needs than that is what I will do.
