OK, I admit it. I am addicted to having my kids pictures taken! I've tried about every studio in my area and am a "regular costumer" at three places. I was curious how often most people take their kids in for photos. The first year of each child, I took them in for newborn pictures, one month, 3, 6, 9 and 12 months, plus I did each first holiday. Now that they are older, I do their birthdays, plus Easter, Halloween and Christmas. And of course, an occasional extra in there, such as preschool or a ballet recitial. How often do other moms take their kids in? Is it different after they start school and get school pictures taken?

I used to be just like you.
I used to be just like you. But when we moved to Arizona, I just stopped doing it. I don't know if work just kept me busier or what. I still do holiday pictures and school pictures, though. Even just that gets expensive.
I do take tons of digital pictures. I need to be better about archiving, but I did recently back up every photo on one of those portable usb storage devices. But I found some of my older digital pictures that I copied onto a CD Rom from my desktop computer wouldn't upload onto my newer laptop (got last year). If someone knows why, let me know. I still have the desktop computer and can take the cd to sam's to make pictures, but I want to make sure I can copy pictures when I'm 60 something, not just 30 something.
What is the file extension
What is the file extension on your picture files (i.e. after the dot)? They might be .jpg, or .bmp.
Oh wow...I'm totally the
Oh wow...I'm totally the opposite. I'm lucky if my kids get their pictures taken around the holidays. I'm spoiled though...a great friend I have (and have known most of my life) is a photographer by trade, so our pictures are professional all the time. (I hate school pictures and lame photo studios - pictures are best taken in natural light!) She's taken all my family pictures and my wedding pictures for about the last year that we have been back in contact and I would never go back! Besides I have a nice digital camera and that's good enough for the inbetween times!

i too did the hospital
i too did the hospital picture plus 3, 6, 9 and 12 months. I decided i will do an 18 month and then annually from here on out. Plus, i get my child together with all the cousins and we do an annual photo shoot.
My poor child has to put up with me having a camera on me at all times. I just love to take pictures in general and my child is now my favorite subject. I DON'T bug her to "pose" and "smile pretty"...i just like to snap away while she is playing or whatever. I think i get some great natural shots of her and i just love seeing how much she has changed.

Wow--you are really
Wow--you are really committed! I did take my son's picture (at home) each month for the first year (of course, I've never organized the photos so some day I'll just have to make up his age in each picture) but since then, I just do his birthday (professional) and Christmas (home). When he was one, I hired a wonderful photographer and had his pictures taken in the park on Via Linda--they cost a small fortune but I'm so glad I did it. I will treasure them always.

Hosptial, 7 weeks, 3, 6, 9, 12 months and annually after. Lots of digital photos thought all the time.
I am happy to hear this,
I am happy to hear this, although, I am not as bad, I do love getting pictures taken of my baby since I did wait 36 years to have him. He is my world, and I want him to have pictures to look back one day of all the changes he made. As a child, my mom never took pictures of us, or took us to get pictures made. All I have are my school pictures and I look back with much regret not having pictures through out my life that I can view. I think its so important to get pictures made of children growing up. It really shows how important the children are and how valuable a picture is, because I realize that my mom didn't care enough about having pictures for us to have one day. Moms need to take pics of their children with other family members too. I miss that I don't have any with my aunts, uncles, grandma, etc.
One Happy Mom in Arizona.
