So I just read the wall street journal stating Starbucks is closing 500 of their stores and cutting 7% of their workers. It is a sign that with all these rising prices people are cutting back on the extras and company's are starting to realize this. What are your thoughts?!

I think it's amazing we pay
I think it's amazing we pay almost $5.00 for a cup of coffee! I'm really not surprized. It's amazing to me that they've stayed open as long as they have. Things are getting just too expensive and that's one of the first things we would cut back on.

Really, I don't go there
Really, I don't go there alot, due to the prices, but I love their products. The economy is hurting so bad...wonder where it will all end.

There were also too many
There were also too many stores in my opinion. Just like there are too many Wal-Marts and too many grocery stores in AZ. It's getting ridiculous. This was bound to happen sooner or later.

I do love the convenience of
I do love the convenience of the drive thru for coffee when the kids are in the car but frankly I can get decent coffee at McDonalds or Wendy's, too.
There are about 10 fancy coffee shops in a 3 mile radius of my home...I am surprised any of them make it!

I think places like when
I think places like when McDonalds and Wendy's started serving really good coffee and iced coffee they hurt Starbucks. When my kids were with me I may have wanted a good cup of coffee but hated taking my kids in there because they would always want a little something and it would end up costing a fortune - now they can get something off the dollar menu while I get to enjoy a good cup of joe.
I totally agree. If I can
I totally agree. If I can get the same size iced coffee from McDonalds for $2, why would I pay $5 for it from Starbucks. I think it tastes pretty much the same.

Now I used to work for
Now I used to work for Starbucks and can tell the difference in coffees. My sister also worked for Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf at one time, and when McDonalds first came out with their iced coffee we went through the drive through excited finally for cheap coffee. Came out really super bummed. It tastes like just regular coffee ie folgers, and vanilla coffeemate creamer. It's disgusting. I am a snob though.
Lately I've switched to Ice tea. How do you make clear iced tea?
You steep it in hot hot water for 5 minutes, remove the tea bags, and then add room temperature water to the rest of it before adding the ice. This will give you clear iced tea.

My husband swears by
My husband swears by McDonald's coffee.
On weekends we splurge sometimes and get Starbucks. I get decaf anyway and sometimes get the comment "why bother?"
I like the drive thru ones btw. It is just so much easier when you have the kids with you.

I think if they close 600
I think if they close 600 stores, there will still be Starbucks everywhere you look.....there is a proliferation of coffee shops, you can't throw a rock without hitting one.
I don't know if people are really cutting back that much.....the ones I pass by are still packed night and day, with a line at the drive thru. I have never used the drive thru there, it seems like you'd be sitting there idling and wasting gas forever because they are so damn slow.
They have kind of lost their
They have kind of lost their place around the corner feel to them. The third place is what they stress, but when you go into one, and there's another one across the street (I worked there in college is how I know).
It's expensive. I try to treat myself to one once a week or once every two weeks, but it depends on gas too. Plus it is expensive.

I'm really not suprised when
I'm really not suprised when you can get a cup of coffee in comparison at Mc.D's for $1.50 or so .... how can they compete. I personally am not that crazy over their coffee and rarely ever get an actual coffee drink when I go there, which isn't often. I don't care where your beans come from if you can go some where else and get a cup of java for less than half the cost of what they're charging how can they expect to survive. I think Starbucks was a big craze before this whole economic slow down hit and now people are watching their pocketbooks more and really cutting back on what they once might not have even considered before they purchased it. Not to mention they have saturated the country, I mean for example there are 2 ont he corner of 24th street and Camelback Road, one in the Esplanade and then another one across the street on the Southwest corner of 24th Street .... I mean come on!! Not to mention up the street there is another one at 16th Street & Camelback and down the street there's another one at 32nd Street & Camelback (in Safeway) ... 4 in roughly a miles distance ... that's ridiculous!!
There are nearly as many
There are nearly as many Starbucks as there are Walgreens.....lol.....must be a huge demand for prescription medication and coffee.....
I'm glad to see people being
I'm glad to see people being more sensible about their money. All those cups of coffee add up to quite a bit over the year.
