Wii have a problem!

I have been wanting to get the Wii game system. I hear the Tennis game is lots of fun and a great workout too. However, my good friend(we will call her klutzy) bought the game for her husband for Christmas. She was playing Tennis with a couple of friends on a Sat night and broke her foot. Yes, you read correctly, BROKE her foot! She had to have surgery to boot and will be in a cast for 6 weeks. Now, you ask, how did this happen? From my knowledge there have been many Wii injuries from the controls, etc., but this particular injury occurred while doing a victory dance for her opponents! I guess they have a website dedicated to Wii related injuries. Wiihaveaproblem.com. Now that she is ok, it still makes me laugh everytime I picture my 30 something friend injuring herself from a victory dance of all things!

I believe it...I broke my foot (in high school, mind you), when I bent down and swung around at the same time, trying to reach for a tube of desitin diaper cream that had fallen and bounced off of the stairs, as I was tossing it up to my mom, who was changing my 1 yr old brother! You just have to bend it at the right angle, with the right force!

I wonder, though, if a Wii tennis injury is as serious as a regular tennis injury? I'd have to say that I still think that Wii is safe! I actually (I can't believe that I'm saying this) am considering buying one for the kids for Christmas next year! It's that damn Ben10 game that they have!

We have Wii system! Yes, it

We have Wii system! Yes, it could be unsafe depending on how you use it. It is advisable to take precautions in using it. You have to make sure, nothing on your front/back while you swing the controller to avoid injury or something that can be broken. It is not the Wii system who has problems--it's how you use it and if you overdo it!
In your friend's case, she was dancing in victory! The dancing led to injury-not the Wii controller.

The only bad thing that's

The only bad thing that's happened since having our wii, (and this isn't anything like a broken bone) is a big scratch across the screen of our tv when my 6-yr-old got a little too enthusiastic with her bowling swing.

Speaking of Wiis, have you noticed that you can finally find them in stores. I saw some at Target and GameStop last Sunday. I was tempted to buy one, but my husband still thinks it's a bad idea. Our kids already have Webkinz and DS games.

We usually trip over toys in the middle of the floor when playing the wii. Sometimes the dog gets in the way also. I will have to check out that website.

We've had a Wii since they first came out and so far, we haven't had any incidents. My 6 yr old is all about making sure everyone has the strap on their wrist when they're playing:)

P.S. I love to play the Carnival game.

I was thinking about getting a Wii for my hubby for father's day. I'm just afraid I'll never see him and the kids without detaching them from the TV screen!

Before getting our Wii we were introduced to it at a friends house. I loved it, except for when our friend said he sprained his ankle playing it. Our friend is 40ish. Maybe the warnings should be for adults!
